Hello, I have just learned that we have a twin pregnancy. I am very early, just six weeks! I had an ultra sound today. Anything can happen but I am a bit shocked. This is totally unexpected. What a thrill. Is anyone else sharing this experience or learned this early? I would love to hear your experience. :)

  2. We found out at about 5 1/2 weeks. We though something was wrong because I was feeling an extreme amount of pain. The lady said "Here is the problem....there are two!" I was floored. I said....it can't be!!! I went on the rest of the weekend saying "oh my God, oh my God..." I know exactly how you feel!!!!

    Well congratulations,

We found out right at 5 weeks 5 days… it was the shock our lives (so far). I took a home pregnancy test and it came back positive (I didn’t even pull up my pants when it beep and read PREGNANT) I called my Dr. he wanted me to come in for blood work... so I did… his nurse called me later that day wanting me to go in for an u/s as they thought I was further along then 5 weeks (this wasn’t a planned pregnancy so it could be possible…) so I went in and I will always remember… first they did it out side my tummy… and the Dr. saw one and said, “well I don’t why your hormone levels are so high, I see it and it’s the right size for 5-6weeks… and I only see one…” at that moment it had NEVER crossed my mined there might be 2… and my husband said, “Oh great because if it were twins I would have killed myself” (he was joking… sort of). Then the Dr. said “well lets look the other way (vaginally) and see if we can see a heart beat, it might be to early, but since were here we might as well look…” well he was moving around and said, “I guess I spoke too soon, see this thing here… and if I go to the right… this other thing there… twins, and identical at that…” my husband later said he felt like crap for what he had just said as he knows it will be a story we tell their whole life… I yell a profanity (as I was still getting us to being just pregnant). We didn’t see them on the out side of my tummy as they were on top of each other… But my Dr. told me to keep the twin thing quite until 3 months as its common to loose one twin… I guess its call a vanishing twin… I was able to hide it until I hit 10 weeks, but after I saw them dance I was just to sold (you can peek, if you like, at our twin sight… that is if you like to see peoples u/s like I do)

Good luck with your pregnancy, and keep us posted… I know the shock hasn’t worn off for me… I not sure it ever will…

I guess I have this great sense of pessimism because I had a miscarriage last year and also I know that it is really early. But, I guess I have a greater percentage that this is a reality than that it is not. Also, I think it is best to manage my expectations at this point. It is very helpful for me to hear all of your stories and support and this is certainly a fun adventure. I hope the fun continues! :)

    cheers!

My pregnancy was unexpected and when I took my first test the positive showed up super fast. I hoped with all my heart it was twins. Even as an unplanned pregnancy I had always wanted multiples since I was very young. I went to my first appointment and heard the ONE heartbeat and kinda was sad to myself it wasn't twins. Then at the first ultrasound at 20 weeks...BAM...TWINS. We were shocked..in awe...disbelief...They wouldn't do an U/S before 20 weeks with me. I just thought i had one VERY active somersaulting baby.

I found out I was pregnant with twins when I was 6 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks due to spotting so I thought I was losing a child but in actual fact the ultrasound showed no problems apart from the fact that instead of only one being in there there was two babies in there which was a shock. A big shock going from thinking I was losing a baby to gaining another one if you know what I mean. It is all good though.

I found out at 9 weeks. I went in thinking I was 13 weeks... Boy were we wrong! It was exciting to find out. I had a miscarriage in March and so I completely understand what you are going through. God has blessed us a lot. I was so depressed after I lost my last one, that I was beginning to give up hope. I know this is meant to be and I am beginning not to feel so concerned. No one else in my direct family lineage, has twins so I know God means for us to have these precious little ones. I finally hit the 12 week mark and I feel much better now! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR TWINS!

We found out at 11 weeks as well. I just had this feeling this time. My initial pregnancy test turned a dark pink immediately which I normally have a very faint line at that point. I was popping out so fast and had the worst nausea then I've ever had. I usually have terrible all day sickness but this was pain. All of my usual pg symptoms were twice as bad. By 8 weeks I couldn't fit in the skirts I usually can wear till I'm 5 months. Then one evening I had spotting...not much but thought I'd wait till Monday but by then it was gone. I've had spotting in past pregnancies which turned out fine so I wasn't too concerned. Then Monday night it got bad...I had cramping down low and in my back. I thought for sure we were losing one or both if I had twins. The Dr. had me come in the next morning for an u/s and there were two perfectly healthy babies! I bawled...my husbands jaw dropped and we left there completely in shock. It still all seems so surreal to me to be having twins but we feel incredibly blessed to be trusted with two more of God's children.

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy Jules! You have been blessed! :)

When I went in for my appointment at 11 weeks and 1 day. I told the u/s tech that I was either further along then we thought or I was having twins...haha...within a minute she said, yep it is twins.

I had a m/c last year and after that I was having no luck getting a regular period so I was given Clomid-I went in for a follicle scan after my second cycle and they saw three follicles and one was the right size to be mature-so they gave me a trigger shot to try and prevent all three from maturing-well obviously one other one went ahead and matured as well ala TWINS! They really gave me no indication that this was a possiblity...instead saying of the chances are so low-ha! Once I got the positive pregnancy test they had me come right in to check HCG levels and then come back a week later and check again to make sure it was rising like it should and the nurse called me and said 1st week was 1,000 and a week later it was 26,000-I thought that seemed a little high but I figured that was a good thing and didnt think about it again-about and hour later the nurse called back and said the doctor wants you to come in tomorrow for a quick sono-which, again I thought nothing of it except they were watching me closely because of my previous m/c.
I went alone to the sono-again thinking nothing of it and low and behold the sono tech giggled and said "how would you feel about twins?" I about fell off the table, then went to my car and cried, I didnt tell my husband for a few hours because he wasnt set on the idea of taking Clomid and I honestly thought he would be mad-of course he wasnt...but I did get an "I told you so" I cried again...but once I got over the initial shock I bought books and looked on the internet and became excited and felt pretty lucky.
I cant wait to hold these little munchkins!
Good luck and welcome to twin stuff-this has been my life saver!

It was a shock to me as well. At 8 weeks, I was taken to the ER for severe dehydration. I had been vomiting for 11 hours before my husband decided that I needed an IV of fluids. He is a fireman, so of course he was not home when all of this was happening. Once I got to the ER, the doctor ordered an ultrasound just to make sure everything was fine. There I was laying on the table and the lab tech said, "Well, unless I'm wrong". I sat straight up on the table and said, don't even say it!!!! Sure enough, two heartbeats and later two babies appeared. I think I spent the next three days in complete shock. I had just gotten used to the idea of being pregnant and then we were surprised with this news! I am now 19 weeks (20 on Tuesday) and we are very excited. Now, we can't wait for the 26th when we go back for the 3D ultrasound!!! I've never looked forward to doctor visits as much as I do now. Congrats

    Hello and congratulations!

    Well!

I hadn't planned on a third pregnancy, and when my period was a bit late I thought I'd try a home test. I wasn't able to aim it correctly and only got a tiny drop of pee onto the stick! (It didn't occur to me to try dipping it into a cup!) So, the test remained blank. I thought I'd pop it under the cold water tap in the bathroom just to see how long a negative would take to pop up. A big blue positive line, so blue it was nearly black appeared!

We didn't get our first scan until 13 weeks. Before this I had been joking to everyone I thought it was twins as I had been soooooo sick and because of the diluted test result! That had kind of gone out my mind when I was on the table in the hospital. The sonographer looked sternly at the screen and we both were worried what was wrong. She then turned the monitor round and said "Can you see what we have here, there's baby number one, and here's baby number two..."

We both cried and laughed at the same time! What a mad- but lovely surprise!

Congratulations! I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I am expecting twins. Right now I am 8 weeks pg. Even though I conceived via IVF, it was still a little bit of shock when our doctor said it was twins. This was a 3rd IVF cycle and after 2 failed attempts it was great to find out I was pregnant and even better to find out it was twins. I'm finding it hard not to worry about every little thing . . . I'm just trying to stay positive.

Hello! I found out it was twins at what I thought was 8 weeks but it turn out to be 7 with twins! My MIL kept saying that it was about time someone had twins and I thought haha...not me. Well we go in for the first appt. and she was taking a long time at the u/s and my husband was getting ready to panic and finally she goes do you see the flicker? And I said yes and jokingly and I mean jokingly I went there is only one right? (haha) and she goes hold on...nope there's two you are having twins. After some awkward laughter I feel much better now! I'll feel much better Monday after I have my next u/s! Good luck!

We didn't find out until 21 weeks. With my first two pregnancies, our midwife sent us in to get an ultrasound because she thought there might be twins, and both times it was just one baby. So this time I totally blew her off, and said there was no way we were having twins. It was over the summer, so it took us a while to get in for an ultrasound. After the tech had been poking around for a while, I asked "so there's just one, right?" and instead of answering right away, she started looking a little more carefully...and here we are waiting for two instead of one :)
