I was wondering for 2 reasons, Well 1, it would be nice to "meet" another twin mom from where I am from. Also, I am pretty lonely during the week, I'm just wondering for SAHMs, what do you do when everyone else you know is working other than go shopping. Have you joined any twin groups or anything?

I am on Long Island in Nassau County, not far from Roosevelt Field Mall. I am also a SAHM and the girls love to go out. Alot of the time now I run to the food store with them in the mornings and do small shoppings. I also love stopping at Starbucks. I will also take them to the mall and walk around there and shop a little. I try to be home with enough time for them to run around outside for a little bit before lunchtime and then nap right after.

I would love to meet up with you and get the kids together. I know my are girls are older but eventually they will be able to play together.

I kind of meant meet online but that would be great to get together. Since mine are preemies, I am just now getting the hang of taking them out by myself since we didn't bring them out in public for a long time. So maybe next month we can meet halfway at the Walt Whitman mall or something. Let me know what you think? In the meantime, can we keep intouch and be LI twin mommy buddies (or something corny like that LOL). Hope you are having a great night :)

I'm also in mid-Suffolk. There are lots of things to do other than shopping in our area. There is a twin group, they meet in Bohemia I think the second or third Tuesday of every month. I haven't made it to any meetings yet but plan to sometime in the future.

As for what to do, I do spend some time at the mall, usually when the weather is iffy. Also it's a place I can go for lunch (food court) where the babies won't bother anyone if they get a little loud. If it's nice out I go walking at some of the parks or at the Ecology site in Holtsville. The petting zoo there is nice, I don't think the babies can tell yet, but I find it entertaining :)
When they get older, the Long Island Game Farm is nearby as well as the Suffolk County Farm. Towards the end of the summer LI is full of fairs and such. I plan to take them to them this year.

Trillian, I have heard about that Ecology site but I forgot about it until you mentioned it. Where is it exactly? Cool about the game farm and the fairs. I agree about the mall, it is just that I spend too much money there that we don't have and I eat too much there if the babies are sleeping. LOL If I ever see a twin mom and babies around the same age as mine, I'll say hello, maybe it will be you.

It's on Buckley Rd. in Holtsville. Basically if you take Blue Point Rd. South you'll see it from the road (if you hit Waverly you've gone too far.) and you make a left on Buckley.
It's great there, there's a trail for walking/running/bike riding, a petting zoo, a playground, picnic areas and the town pool. There's also a greenhouse and recycling center and a place where you can get free compost for your garden (I know, not for babies but still useful :) )

What town are you in? I'm in Coram (actually closer to Mount Sinai)

I am! North Shore of Suffolk. But I'm not a SAHM... however for the next month I'm working early mornings to early afternoon and then I have the whole afternoon with the girls. I take them for walks in my town... the double stroller always garners a lot of attention and its nice to talk to adults! I've also taken them to Target just to get out of the house. The girls usually sleep, but if they aren't they *love* staring at the flourescent lights in that store. Its hard to take them places that are further away from me unless I have another set of hands because I run into bottle time (they eat every 4 hours) and I haven't yet tackled feeding them both when we are not at home. That is a little intimidating to me right now.

I just joined the MOTC here and have met some very nice people. If you want more info, PM me. -Leighann

Trillian, I am in Selden. Actually I live right off Blue Point Rd. More north than where you are talking about but still, so that should not be hard for me to find at all. A good friend of mine lives in Coram, in the W streets.
Leighann, I am going to PM you after I am done with this post. I go to Target alot! I try to get them out everyday, just like I said before, I end up spending too much money when all I do is shop with them. LOL

hey!!! I am in Middle Island. You are only 2 towns down from me. I actually go to the Weightwatchers there in selden at the shopping center where Ruby Tuesdays is. I haven't figured out how to pm yet so feel free to pm me. I also am a SAHM and always feel rather alone. One of my only 2 friends out here might be moving to North Carolina and my other friend works 2 days a week so I don't get together with her as often as I would like. I am planning on joining Mommy and Me in the Fall (the one in Rocky Point) with my one friend. We are actually closer to the SmithHaven Mall. I was actually just there yesterday. There is a small fair right here in Middle Island right off of 25 where the Kmart used to be.

Double, I am at the mall alot!! I used to go to that WW, I went on Saturday mornings. Lynn was my leader, she was great! Then they started it up at work so I went at lunchtime. I lost 55lbs and then I got pregnant, the rest is history. LOL I really need to get back to it. Sorry to hear about your friend. If you ever see a twin mom at the mall, talk to her, it might be me. :) Is the mommy and me class for twins? I would totally be interested in that. Let me know. Thanks.

Leighann, thanks for that info. I had sent an email the other day and they have contacted me back and are sending me info. I am looking forward to joining.

haha I go to the Sat am meeting also with Lynn. (I usually go to the 8:30 or 9:30 meeting) I actually haven't been going consistently for about 2 months because I have had something giong on every satruday. I am going to try to go this Saturday but want to make sure I can go consitently again since I usually buy the 10 week pack. Yes, the Mommy and me will take moms with twins (unlike Gymboree where you have to have an adult per child). I hear the rocky point facility is really beautiful. they have a couple of open houses coming up. (June 13,26,29, and July 7th) The fall session is for 16 weeks and they have classes for babies (5 months to independent walkers 12-14 months). It's a bit pricey (but cost less than gymboree). It costs 275 for first child and 175 for second. But it's for 4 months. I have to do SOMETHING as I find when then weather gets cold and we can't get out as much that I start to lose my mind. If you want to get more info from them the number is 631-821-4877. Not sure if the baby class is the same price as the toddler (which we will be in) perhaps it is cheaper. I often see twins in the mall so I will deffinately be sure to say hi if I see you (or if I think it might be you ;) )

Hey Leighann, didn't mean to ignore the fact that you are from LI too!!! Congrats on your twins and I can totally understand you not wanting to go too far from home right now. It's really tricky when they are younger and on a schedule that you can't be too flexible with. When they gotta eat they gotta eat. Hope to meet up with you soon as well. If you are ever at the mall I'm the lady with the big red side by side jogging stroller (with twins inside of course :D )

OOps! Trillian too! glad to know I'm not the only mom of twins on the island

Wow, I'm so surprised that I haven't run into any of you! I'm always at the mall and Target too! Thanks for posting about the mommy and me class, I've been thinking about joining one in the fall, I'll have to check out the open house.

BTW, I used to go to that WW in Selden too  I went on Tuesday nights. DH and I are planning on rejoining one of these days
