My girls have turned into parrots! They copy almost everything we say lately. I really don't worry about it b/c DH and I neither one curse or anything but I have had to stop myself from saying things I don't think almost two year olds should be saying, like butt and crap and shut up.

This morning, I told Alana (not actually expecting her to do it) to say "Come on Daddy, lets go swimming." She said "Come on Daddy, I wan go simming!" It was SO cute!!! It is amazing to hear their vocabularies explode like that! And it's really awesome how much they retain! They try to sing along with almost every song we hear in the car on their Elmo, Jack's Big Music Show, and Veggie Tales cds. And the second time I did their "Little Piggies," they were trying to say it along with me.

How about y'all? Do yours repeat everything?

Yes! Mine repeat everything they hear. Just the other day, I was talking on the phone to my husband, unaware that my daughter was listening. I realized that I had forgotten to take something to the postoffice and I said "Crap". Then Anna Claire started saying "Crap, Crap, Crap. My son looked at her and said "I not crap, I'm a boy!" I couldn't help but laugh!!! I told my DH I needed to try to start watching what I say. They are listening even if you don't think so!

Mine did and still do that. God forbid if I swear! They repeat it PERFECTLY!! Now that they are getting closer to 2 their vocabulary has totally exploded on its own, but they still parrot me a lot! I love it though, but like you just have to watch what I say.

    Ditto!!

They even picked up on some of DH's phrases he has been using while working on the house... last week he was hammering up some walls, and nailed his finger... can you imagine what they heard him say!! And, they can say it just perfectly.

Yep -- it's like having a double echo! They copy the tone and everything.

DD does all the time. DS doesn't do it as much.

TOTALLY!!! It's so funny because everytime I bump or bash myself into something and say "ouch ow ow" or show pain or displeasure (I tend to run into to stuff apparently) Ali will say "What happened Bean?" Because that's what my DH would say!! :rotflmbo: She also started calling my DH "Punkin"!! SO FUNNY!!!

oooooooooooooooh yes, we have that here too! they totally copy my tone and everything. the funny thing from today was that i called downstairs to dh, whose name is chris, so then they both started calling out his name in the cutest way ("kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisss"). and the singing cracks me up - i love how they sing the alphabet and then clap and say "yay" for themselves at the end
