Anyone else have clean freaks?

I don't know why, but my girls are clean freaks, especially during meals. Every meal is interrupted with constant demands to "clean hand" "clean spoon" "clean tray". Any time a little morsel of food gets on them, they freak. Kind of annoying when they eat with their hands. This also happens when we are outside and they get dirt on their hands. I opened these little tiny Play-Doh's they got in a Halloween goody bag and tried to get them to play with it. Ainsley touched it and freaked out, and yelled her famous "clean hand!"

Are my kids weird or what?

Lane is very obsessive about things on his hands, he doesn't like it and you have to clean it off right away. Both are obsessive about cleaning. I have to keep my windex and paper towels on top the fridge, if not they would spray and wipe down anything and everything, they LOVE cleaning.

Hannah is like that and always has been. She is getting better with time. And it took her awhile to enjoy playdough too, but now she is sold.

In the last few months my DS has been like this when eating. He does not like to get any food on his hands and will hold his hand(s) out to be cleaned if anything gets on them. However, getting his hands dirty outside is ok for him for some reason.

I think it might be a bit of a phase around here, too. One does his own version of the 'clean hands' routine, and they both like to clean, follow routines and rules, etc. I know it will pass at some point, but I'm taking advantage of it while I can ;)

Lu is like that. I am happy to report that now that she is older it extends to cleaning up whatever she has been playing with before she starts playing with the next thing. She does this herself. :D

Regan and Tessa both like to take napkins or towels and wipe up spills. They enjoy it so much that they will intentionally spill something so that they can clean it up. Regan is pretty obsessive about having her hands cleaned. She doesn't like to have a lot of food on them and she definitely doesn't like dirt on them. However, she is usually satisfied if we take a cloth and wipe them off a little. They don't have to be super clean, but she likes to have them wiped off.

My 2 do that too!! Joshie is my cleanest one as far as eating is hardly a mess at all...katie is a bit messy but both are so picky about their hands. Even in the sandbox if the sand sticks to their hands it has to be gotten off right then

My girls do it too! Mostly with food though. If they get dirty while eating they freak! But give them dirt or sand and it's a whole different story!

I do hope the phase passes. Ainsley is the worst with it, and she's also the one that likes to eat applesauce and such with her hands, and then freak out that her hand is dirty. I tell her over and over again to use her spoon, then her hand won't get messy, but she doesn't seem to connect the two.

Sarah likes to wash her hands a lot. So far we've managed to keep from letting her wash her hands in the middle of a meal, but she wants to wash as soon as she's done. And this morning, after they were both done and cleaned off, I snuck a little avocado to Amy from Sarah's tray (Amy always wants more avo, and Sarah never finishes hers, but she won't let Amy have it) -- Amy ate it happily, but then immediately looked at her hand and said "Wash hand."

They both also hate having sticky stuff on their hands, though dry stuff like dirt doesn't bother them as much. And one day after daycare, Amy touched the tire of every car in the parking lot on the way to our car :umm: and then complained the whole way home that her hand was dirty and she needed to wash it. I kept telling her that's what happens when you touch car tires. I don't think she's done it again since then!
