Anyone else gotten lazy about their appearance?

Since the twins have arrived I have gotten so lazy about my appearance and am so disappointed in myself. Most days I do manage to get a shower in but don't have time, haven't found much time for much else. I haven't gotten my hair done since November before the girls big arrival, don't wear makeups most days and have resulted to what is comfortable rather than what looks nice. I need a major makeover...I have been watching '10 Years Younger' on TLC and know I need to do something. Well I made a hair appointment for next week and did find some time to do some online shopping last week when Kohls had their sale. I feel so out of touch with what is in style. It looks like a lot of flowy/peasant tops. I was excited once I placed my order to add some new things to the closet and stop wearing t-shirts. My stuff came today and I tried it all on, I swear all the tops look like maternity tops...maybe it is just me. Any other moms relate? I don't have many girlfriends where we live but could sure use some fashion advice/tips.

I dont know that I would call it being lazy...I would say for the last 8 months I have been in Survival mode which just doesn't entail wearing makeup and getting cute! I hear you though...I haven't gotten my hair done in months, my eyebrows are so overgrown, and I totally need to revamp my wardrobe. Most of the time I am at home anyway, so I find it hard to do my hair and put on makeup for the babies.

I wish I had a solution for you, but I am in the same boat. You are not alone!

I have always been a jeans and tshirt kind of girl, I never wear makeup unless I have to dress up or look "nice". I almost never do my hair anymore which is a bummer but my girls love to pull/play with it and its so long I worry about it getting caught around their fingers and toes.

I figure as long as the t-shirt doesn't have milk stains and my jeans are clean...well, I'm good?! And makeup, well, that's for someone with TIME, which none of us have, I suppose...

I'm sure you look fantastic in your jeans and tees! Give yourself some credit for getting out of your pajamas each morning, as I know there are some days when I don't even make it that far (shower?!).

Heck, I love having a reason to stay in my pj's all day. None of my jeans fit anymore, they just fall off of me and my non-existance butt. I've never been a dress-up kind of girl eithor. Wanna know how old my make-up is? At least 3 years old!! It's just too much for me...to get dressed up.

Funny you said that because when I did my hair and put makeup on for a grad party on Mother's day Maia kept staring at me and touching my face and smiling! It was sweet!

I try really hard to make an effort to at least fix my hair and wear something decent. Mostly in case someone randomly shows up at the house during the day, but honestly I really do feel better when I do. :) I'm a cropped pants and tees kind of girl and I'm trying to lose weight anyway, so I guess I'm probably out of touch when it comes to what's in style too. After the boys were born, I started getting my hair highlighted and schedule an appt. every six weeks that I *have* to keep. It's a great way to escape for an afternoon too. :D

For the sake of my MENTAL HEALTH:
the minute I get up and feed my little ones I change out of pjs and I change them too. Not that I really have pjs. I wear a wifebeater and sweats...Haha.

I'm mostly a jeans and tshirt kind of girl. Always have been!! I am ridiculously spoiled when it comes to me jeans. So I wont share any "fashion advice" because half of you would croak if I shared how much has been spent on my immaculate jean collection.

I wear converse, jeans and tshirts DAILY.
    Occasionally a dress.

Most of my clothes don't fit me seeing as I was 5'9" 142 lbs and a size 28...
    Now I am 5'9" 165 lbs and a size 31....sweeeeeeeeet!

I have really fallen out of the habit of doing my make-up and hair too. I do miss 'dressing up' sometimes. I had to dress nice for work and sometimes I miss it.
Most days, if I'm only running to the grocery store or something, I'm a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops girl. (I live in flip flops during summer months.)

If I'm meeting or seeing friends (very rare these days) then I try to at least blow dry my hair (which for me is fixing it) and dab on a little make-up.

Otherwise, if it's a day at home, I'm usually in a tank top and some sweat pant style shorts (or occasionally boxers!) and I just try to remember at some point to put a bra on! :D

sweats sweats & more sweats......I went & bought a bunch of cute victorias secret sweats - which are my 'dressy' sweats.
i LOVED my nice jeans & high heels, really miss wearing them. I look forward to my 'grown up' nights (rare) when I can wear all my cute stuff that just sits in the closet all lonely.
As for my hair, I have had a ponytail for the past 6 months. Need a haircut, cant figure out when/how to make time to do that!
The girlies look at me funny if I have my hair down :) (and they pull it really hard...)
The only time I wear makeup (powder/mascara/lip gloss) is when i am in my 'dressy' sweats & going to target to buy formula & diapers...woot wooo!!!

I am glad to know I am not alone:) You are right I guess it isn't being 'lazy' its a matter of so many other things needing my attention and a limited amount of time:)

Yep-jeans/tshirt/sweatshirt/yoga pants type of person here. You have a better chance of seeing the Pope or the President than you do of me being in a dress, skirt, or makeup! UNLESS-I am IN a wedding-then break the cameras out because who knows when you will see me with my hair done, makeup on, and wearing a dress!

    And that ladies-is the TRUTH!

I've never really been one to get my hair done ever week or nails or like shopping. The thing that I've been struggling with is my weight. since the babies been born I have been so lazy with working out or watching what I eat. I have gained so much weight and it's really starting to effect my self esteem. I don't even want to go to work because I have nothing to wear that fits. So depressing!!

I said the exact same thing to my husband last night! I haven't had my hair done since I got pregnant! I've had it cut but the gray is getting bad. I never used to let myself go like this. As for style, yes it looks like the shirts you described are in style and I hate them. I feel like I'm pregnant when I put one on. In short, you are not lazy, we do what we have to to survive! Just know, you are not alone!

    It's not being lazy!

I actually had my hair done in April for my b-day :) But I didn't get it done since November before that! I don't wear makeup usually. I did by tinted moisturizer and tinted lip balm though for when I go out (which is never lol). I pull my hair back daily because now the girls will yank on my hair! I still have plenty of weight to lose too. I hate reading about people who somehow have lost all the weight by now. Don't know how that is done! But don't consider yourself lazy at all! We have the hardest job! NO twin mom is lazy!

Well I am still new to this but yes I am in survival mode and it consists of shorts and t-shirts. Even going out I don't bother with make-up. I also think the super cute peasant tops remind me of maternity. I can't do anything that reminds me of that it is too recent of an event for me to regress :) I know when I go back to work I will have to learn to dress myself again!

A wifebeater is like a tank top. more like you wear under a shirt

A wifebeater is an A-shirt. A sleeveless undershirt with a lower neckline than a crew-neck undershirt.

I haven't had an eyebrow wax, highlights, or a decent haircut since october. I've blown my hair dry maybe twice since the boys were born. I'm still good about working out (more for my sanity than my vanity if you KWIM), however the other stuff has just become so unimportant.

I definitely don't keep up the hair and make up like I used to! I'm much more casual these days. Sounds like we're all in good company :) .

Every night before bed, I take a shower and put on one of DH's t-shirts and some clean undies. Some days, that is what I wear all day. Usually I will put a pair of athletic shorts on and wear the big t-shirt and athletic shorts, but that's it. I am so embarassed to say it, but it's true.

I still have about 10 pounds of baby weight that I need to lose, so none of my clothes fit me just right. It is depressing when I try and get dressed, so I just avoid it and stay happily in my sweat shorts and one of DH's tshirts :D

The fact that you shower each day is GREAT! I know this sounds ridiculous, but I make my husband be in "total control" while I shower each night. I have even gotten in the bathroom when both of them have been screaming, but said to him (and myself) you and them will be ok. I need that 20-30 minute break!

I'm so glad you posted this! I remembered thinking this morning that I need to call the salon for an eyebrow wax, so I emailed him right after opening up this forum. Thanks for reminding me!

So a suggestion for all of you is to get your hair done at home. I have a friend who just graduated from beauty school and was willing to come over to my house to color my hair and give me a cut. I know I am lucky because she's kind of looking for work until she gets a job in a salon, but I still think you might be able to get your stylist to come over to your house for a quick cut and/or color. I know some people might actually want to take this time to get out, but then again if you have a hard time doing that, this might be the next best thing.

I do agree with one of the previous posts that you often feel better to at least getting dressed every day. I make sure I do that even if we are home all day.

Finally, we have Fred Meyer here in AK (similar to Meijers or another large grocery store). When I go to get food or diapers, I will just cruise by the clothing section to see if there is anything cute on clearance. No, I do not try anything on when I have the babies, but I will take them home and try them on there and just take them back the next time I go. They are not the most expensive or well designed clothes, but since I had the babies, I realize how much I hated most of my pre-pregnancy clothes. This way I can get a few things that are cute, but not super expensive since I know my chest size will go down after I stop BF-ing these two piggies.

Good luck and know that you are definitely NOT alone!

I don't pull myself together often. I like the magazine Lucky for style tips and I think people look best in what they feel best in.

Yes! I can relate, and I cannot wear that style either, as I just look like I am pregnant...and I don't want to go there again! I wear a lot of tanks with simple khaki shorts.

As far as my hair...is up in a 'bun' considered a 'do'?  Most of the time I get out of the shower and put it up immediately!
