We had are first Xmas party tonight and we left after the boys woke up from there nap, stayed there, they were pretty good, then left 2 hrs later because they were getting cranky for bedtime.. It felt like we were only there for half that time; trying to keep all the kids entertained eating ect. I guess I just miss sitting down and socializing and relaxing for a while.. I know nexted yr will be better! ! !

I think we only stayed a half hour at the only Holiday party we attended. Once the boys started getting cranky, we got ready to leave. I am sure next year there will be more socializing and adult conversation at Holiday parties.

I'm afraid I feel quite the opposite!
After too many childless Christmases, my DH and I are thrilled to spend time home with our babies. I've been to so many parties - missing a few makes no difference to me!
There will be many years for socializing with the adults when the kids get bigger.

Next year will be even busier when they are running around trying to dismantle all the party decorations and pulling food off the table. Get a babysitter and you'll enjoy the party even more....

I think I felt that way the whole first year... it was hard to do anything, away from the house... because we were constantly having to follow their cues and their schedules.

It gets better after the first year... hand in there!

DH and I are also feeling blessed with the girls this year and having a great time being at home with them.
Our first xmas with babies! It's such a miracle!!
Sorry you didn't enjoy your outing but I'm sure you enjoy your babies!

This Christmas is definitely different - I was lucky I found time to eat a few bites yesterday. My dh and I *think* next year will be easier when the girls are 1 because at least then our hands will be free, but we'll see! [IMG]

I've found this for every social event during the past year. I've decided that's why people with babies wind up socializing mostly with other people who have small children. It is getting better for us (though I think it will be tough again for awhile when they become fast walkers and aren't willing to sit still). You also just get a better sense of which events you should just say no to -- which we do a lot!
