Anyone else have low lying placenta in early pg? (1st trimester)? Not necessarily previa, just low lying?

What were your symptoms? Pain? Spotting? Cramps? Other symtoms?

I did with my singleton but I didn't have any symptoms. The placenta didn't move up out of the way until the 3rd trimester but then it was fine.

Hi! I'm over here from the expecting after twins forum. I found out during my 20 week ultrasound that I have a low lying placenta. I really have no symptoms other than I think I feel more pressure at this stage in my pregnancy than I remember from when I was pregnant with my twins. My doctor didn't diagnose me with placenta previa, just said it was low lying, could be considered border line previa and that I will have another ultrasound at 28 weeks to check on it. She also said if it didn't move up that it more than likely wouldn't be an issue for me as we are thinking of having a repeat c-section.

A friend of mine who was pregnant last year with twins was diagnosed with placenta previa, her placenta was covering over half of her cervix. She experienced bleeding after carrying a heavy load of laundry up the stairs. Her doctor advised her to rest and after four weeks (including pelvic rest) her placenta moved back up.

I understand this is very common. I hope you aren't experiencing any problems. Good luck!

yes I had a low lying placenta and my only symptoms were I'd have bleeding out of no where bright red blood that would scare you to death.....but I've not had any spotting in my second trimester and my OB said the placenta went up....so I'm ok

I had a partial previa at about 10 weeks. I think it was still there at 12 weeks when I had my nuchal scan, but the peri said not to worry about it and the vast majority of them resolve later. Mine did.

I had partial placenta previa with Dave for the first trimester and a half. It was really no big deal. It moved out of the way and wasn't a concern anymore. One of the boys had a low lying placenta and it was also not a problem.

I was diagnosed with placenta previa at my 17 week u/s. It completely covered my cervical os. I never had any symptoms....pain or bleeding. I had a follow-up growth u/s at 20 weeks and 23 weeks. It's moved up completely and all the restrictions I was on have been removed. If they saw a low lying placenta in the first trimester, I wouldn't worry. It will move up as your uterus grows.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I was wondering because of my symptoms, my Dr. told me she thought they were from that, and I was curious to know if other people experienced it, and what their symptoms were :D

Thank you so much.... I am so relieved to know others had bleeding/spotting due to this, my dr. thinksthe low lying placenta might be what is causing it. Thanks again! And glad to know the placenta went up in the 2nd trimester, yay!

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I'm actually not worried about it- I was just curious to know what other ladies experienced because of my symptoms, my Dr. told me she thought they were from that, and I was curious to know if other people experienced it, and what their symptoms were. Thanks again!

I just found out at my 11w2d US yesterday that baby A has a very low lying placenta so they have me on pelvic rest until I go back in 4 weeks. I didn't really notice anything until she said that I might feel increased pressure and then realized that I had felt this occasionally and thought it was too early to feel that since the babies are still so little.
