I just started doing yoga again (have done it in the past, prepreg) this week. I am 24 weeks preg.with twins. So far everything in the pregnancy has been really pretty easy. I thought I really should start to stretch and start moving my body a little bit since I spent the first trimester or so worried that everything would be okay that I was not very active. I have been realizing that I need to do something to help make labor a little easier, more flexible, etc... Anyway, does anyone else carrying twins do yoga? Is this a good idea? My movements are obviously restricted. I just get a little nervous about hurting the babies- squishing them or something. I would love your thoughts!

my dr. said no pregnancy yoga or swimming for me ~ just as a precaution since twin pregnancy is somewhat 'high risk'. Not sure if that is the case for most people or not though.....
I say if your dr. says its fine then stick with it! :)

My MW also said no to working out other then walking. I did pilates through out my entire pregnancies before. I miss the stretching. now I just go for walks and do a few stretches for my waist and back.

funny, I have full approval for swimming and for yoga. Great for the muscles. Keep the yoga as more of a stretching and relaxation/meditation than a work out.

My DR said no exercise whatsoever after 18 weeks. I'm glad I listened to get the babies baking as long as possible!

My doctor said I can continue exercising as long as I feel alright. Prior to becoming pregnant, I was pretty active (marathon-training, spin classes, yoga, etc.). Once we found out we were having a baby (babies!), I decreased the intensity of exercise and quit running entirely. With the exception of a bit of spotting at 10 weeks, my pregnancy has had zero complications.

That said, in the last week, I am finding certain yoga poses more challenging...my belly is in the way :) I understand your concern about "squishing" them!

I would check with your doctor about your concerns and make sure that your yoga instructor is trained in dealing with pregnant women. There are certain postures that shouldn't be done and great ways to modify others.

I really enjoy the stretching and feel so much better after class.
    Good luck!

I did and it helped with pg discomfort. It also helps prepare for labor and delivery (and recovery).

I just got docs approval for yoga, and any low impact "relaxed exercise". It was actually encouraged to exercise. He said do what you want until you have a reason not to. Of course he said if anything feels wrong or I makes me exhausted...don't do it. I LOVED yoga with my other pregnancies and I feel like it will really help with the discomfort of twins!!!

My doctor would have been ok with me doing yoga while pg with twins had I not had placenta previa.
