HI ladies. I had a busy day of 3 doctor's appointments yesterday (NST, u/s at peri's, & OB appt). All went very well... babies "passed" their NST and u/s showed that they were both measuring very close in size (4 lbs 11 oz)! However, at my ob appointment, we learned that I am starting to dialate and am about 2cm. I wasn't dialated at all 2 weeks ago. I dialated very early with my first pregnancy (at 35 weeks) and didn't have my son until my water broke at 39 weeks. I was walking around at 4 cm during the 38-39 weeks with him! ;) My ob didn't seem worried and thought I could easily go another several weeks. He did tell me to "take it easy" and stay off my feet as much as possible. We also did an FFN test and it came back negative so that was a huge relief!

Just curious if anyone else started dialating early and what your doctors told you and also how long you were able to keep your babies cooking!

Well, if you want to, you can read my story in the bedrest success thread in the bedrest forum, but the short version is that at 33 weeks I was 4 cms dilated, and managed to keep them cooking for another 2 weeks! I was also fully effaced at that point as well. I had been on full bedrest and went to modified bedrest a few days before I delivered.

I was 2cm and 80% effaced at 28wks...bedrest held me off to 34wks and when I went in I was 4.5cm and 100%:)

Now I am starting to wonder why my ob didn't recommend bedrest... He said "take it easy" and "stay off your feet as much as possible". He told me that since i did the same thing with my last pregnancy and didn't go into labor for weeks that he wasn't too worried. Of course, I can't stop thinking about it!

I was 2cm dilated at 24 weeks, so yeah I guess I started dilating early. That is great that the fFN came back negative! :yahoo: Follow your Dr's orders and make sure you are taking it easy. Best of Luck to you!!

thanks! I guess my "early" is definitely not early compared to many stories I have seen on TS(like yours!).

I started dilating & effacing at 29 weeks (I was 2cm and 80% effaced) so I spent weeks 29-34 on bedrest. Then my bedrest ended and I went in for induction at 37 weeks (where I was 5cm and 100% effaced when I checked in- and wasnt in labor!)
Your doctor probably didnt recommend bedrest because you are almost 34 weeks and the babies are good size.

Was 2 cm at 32 and 33 weeks, 3 cm at 34 and 35 weeks, 4 cm at 36 and 37 weeks, 4 1/2 cm at 38 weeks and when I was induced at 38w2d. My measured large, 4lbs-range at 30w, and 6lbs-range at 34 weeks, so I guess weight had something to do with it too. Especially since it wasn't my first pregnancy either.

I was dilated 2cm at I think it was 30 weeks. And made it to 36weeks and 2 days when my water broke.

I'm dilated 1 cm at 25 weeks. Still 'closed' though, and on strict bed rest at home. I would just follow your doc's orders and take it easy.

I was 3 cm dilated at 32 weeks. I thought for sure I would go into labor early! My doc didn't put me on bedrest or anything either, and I ended up being induced at 37 weeks. I worked up until 36 weeks, and finally took the last week off to lie around. When I went in to be induced, I was still 3 cm but let me tell you once the Pitocin started those babies practically came flying out!

I was 1cm 70% effaced at 31 weeks. He's going to check me again tomorrow but I'm not too worried. I was dilated 4cm for two weeks before my water broke at 38 weeks with my DS. I am eager to find out nonetheless and to hear what he has to say. My L & D from start to finish with DS was less than 8 hours (with pitocin due to Strep B) so I'm a little nervous having to drive an hour.

I started dialating at 24 weeks. I was 1 cm and 60% effaced put on bedrest and stayed that way until about 32 weeks were I moved to a 2 and 70% effaced. This past week I am almost at a 3. As the other PP have said, you arent alone.

DW dialted 10cm at 24 weeks(with DS kicking Nurses finger)...had ZERO clue(just went to get a different cramp checked out)...babies came out then and there.

So, no steriods or stopping them for us...they came into the World bare boned.

But hey...no stretch marks, or bed rest either. LOL...guess you have to try and find some positives.

Keep em cookin!!! Every day helps.

Hi everyone. Thank you for sharing your experiences! such a wide variety!
I am still hanging in there... I am 35 weeks now and am currently 3 cm dialated and 75% effaced... Hoping to make it to 37 weeks! Doctor thinks it is possible if I keep taking it easy. My current goal is to make it past Thanksgiving dinner! :)

    Good luck everyone!!
