Anyone else dealing with fevers right now?

I'm wondering how long this is going to last, Sarah woke up on Tuesday night, completely out of the blue with a 103 fever. She also developed a cough the following morning, which has gotten worse and worse sounding. The fever seemed to go away come morning, then would spike again around dinner time, getting up to 104 at times. This was the case on Wednesday and Thursday, and today it never went below 100.6 and hovered around 101-102 for most of the day. The poor thing is miserable and the cough is awful. Humidifier is going, vicks plug is in her room....she's in there coughing away right now. I am calling the pedi in the morning and hoping we can get her in to be seen and check her lungs/ears. I'm sure it's a virus, but my paranoid side is worrying about pneumonia already. Anyone else's little ones dealing with this? How long did it last?

We are going through a fever stage that is taking forever to go away. Earlier in the week, it was 104 and I called the ped and they told me to alternate tylenol and motrin. The rest of the week it hung around 99-100. He has no other symptoms besides extra crabby! I am going to see how he wakes up and then call tomorrow. Yeah, I would call the ped too if I were you especially because of the cough. Let us know what the ped says.

There is definitely something going around. I took J in yesterday b/c of a cough that he can't get rid of, and she said there's some nasty virus knocking everyone out that they don't know what it is. She said they haven't really seen any flu, but RSV was making it's rounds. For us, the virus seems to be gone, but it looks like we're dealing with asthma that was triggered by the virus. :( I'm right there with you- it just kills me listening to that terrible cough all night knowing there's not much I can do! Just breaks your heart! Hope your DD feels better soon!

Yep, totally going around. We had it last week. Started with a fever of 103.4 out of the blue with nothing more than a runny nose and slight cough. The fever lasted for 3 days exactly and then broke and now we all have colds again.

I alternated Tylenol and Motrin all night last night and her fever never went below 102. It's 102.7 this morning. Ugh. She also threw up around 12:30am, mostly just water that she had been drinking. The poor thing was hallucinating (she kept saying "My bed is shaking!!!" and at one point started screaming that our dog was throwing up in her room!) and was basically up every hour. She also hasn't eaten since lunch yesterday. I really hope they can see her today!

    Thanks everyone!

Marcus had it a few weeks ago, and was just a virus. Jonathan got sick last week, and ended up, it was bronchitis--he got an anti-biotic, and is fine. Marcus' cough is still lingering.

E & D both have fevers that are on an off and really loose stools and vomiting. The highest they have been has 102.4. The ped said it was a virus but it could be the flu since one of the strands going around wasnt covered by the flu shot this year. In a sad way Im glad to know we are not alone with this crap.

Just wanted to update this and say my paranoid side was right - turns out she does have a touch of pneumonia after all. The doctor heard lots of crackling in her lungs. We'll be doing breathing treatments for the next 2 days. She also has TWO ear infections. :(

We dealt with this 2 weeks ago. Both boys had a fever and nasty cough for 4 days. Took them to the pedi. Everything looked fine -- just a virus we were told. Fevers and cough continued for another 4 days. Took them back the next day (a Monday), and both boys ended up with an ear infection. Started antibiotics and they were so much better after 24 hours on the meds. Dr. said their are some really nasty upper respiratory things going around. I had it first and now DH has it. So much fun!

I hope they are better soon!

We have it too. Patrick had a fever today and has had a cough for a couple of days. I am going to keep an eye on him. If it continues I am going to take him to the doctor on Monday. I would if you are concerned.

Fevers are horrible but they sure do let you know something else is up. Poor girl I hope she feels better soon, soundsa like she got a triple whammy.
My kiddos were running high fevers along with loose, bloody stools and it ended up being salmonella poisoning. BTW, salmonella is contagious.
