    Hello everyone,

I'm brand new to this site. After about 4 years TTC, we're finally pregnant and with twins. A boy and a girl, due December 5th. We're trying to find other people due about the same time. We have friends who are pregnant, but all with singletons and there are some issues that they just can't relate to.

This is actually the husband typing, so I'll tell you some of what Tracey has been going through and hopefully some of you who are either going through this or have gone through this can offer some input. Lately it's been her lower ribs. They've been killing her. Her back too although I bought her a belly sling and that's helped a lot. Lastly, she's had trouble sleeping at night. A bit from being uncomfortable and a bit simply because she's not tired. Does any of this sound familiar?

Anyway, I hope to hear and share with some of you.

    Scott & Tracey in CT

Hi there and welcome! I am due 11/22. It is definately difficult talking about pregnancy issues with others who are having 1 baby. They really have not idea what it is like, I can say this because I had 1 baby the first time around... This is nothing like it! I can't imagine that I ever would have been able to "get it" if someone I knew was pregnant with twins at that time. The best thing is that at the end you get 2 adorable babies at the end! B)

Im due christmas eve...but will deliver the first week of december at the latest if all goes well! This is actually my second set of twins, the first set was born in jan. And let me tell you it all rings a bell! Lol and the farther along you get the harder it is to get comfortable at all.

Is she having many leg cramps yet?

Hi there, welcome to TS!!! I am due November 23, having b/g twins (we think)
This is definately the right place to come to get advice and support from others in your position! I have learned so many things on this site - as to what is normal etc for someone pregnant with twins......no-one I know has had any!!
I can identify with the restless at night thing, I find it hard to get comfortable and sometimes when I finally do I wake up a few hour later with pins and needles. As for the not being able to sleep because you're not tired.....ah....not really. Usually I am pretty tired but sometimes I will lay awake thinking about how things will be, what they will be/look like etc :)
as for the aches and pains - ribs, hips, backs.....nothing is sacred. I am guessing most of these things are either to do with weight and space issues - ie. there's none left.

Good luck and congrats on your twins!!

    Hi and :sign0016:
I'm due on Nov 9 and your wife sounds very normal!! She might need to be using more pillows. I use a body pillow between my legs and under my belly and another one behind me keeping my right hip elevated. (you'll have to get used to sleeping on the edge for a while!!)I can so relate about your friends having singletons, you'll get some comments too, like a friend of mine saying it's probably going to be easier than having a baby and chasing a 2 yearold, that's like comparing apples and oranges! (not that I know yet). I love Twinstuff and these ladies have been my sanity and friends!! Wishing you and your wife all the best!

by the way, tell her to not wear an underwire bra as it can get pretty painful too.

Hi. Welcome to TS. I'm expecting 2 boys due on November 26th. Everything that you describe is normal! And from what I've read around here, I don't expect it to get any better any time soon.

Where in CT are you? I'm in Westchester, NY so maybe not too far away from you?

Congratulations on your twins and welcome to twinstuff! There are a lot of great, informative and supportive folks on this site. You are definitely in the right place! I'm due 11/22 and I can relate to a lot of Tracey's aches and pains. I sleep with lots of pillows and that seems to help. Tell her to hang in there and get plenty of rest! Good luck!

I'm due in November...but with one... my last pg was a set of b/g twins born at 37wks 5days... I do remember it did get very uncomfortable....I had a lot of issues with heartburn in the second trimester. General discomfort would cause issues sleeping at times. All of this being said, my one big fear is over the backpain... If Tracey is having chronic backpain that is keeping her awake she should definitely have her cervix checked. A friend of mine delivered her first child, at 25 weeks, this past January after several weeks of chronic back pain which her midwives wrote off as normal pg discomfort. With twins it's much more easy to write it off as normal pain and discomfort. But when it's your first pg, especially twins, and you aren't sure how your cervix will hold up, it's really important to keep it monitored. Hopefully her docs already have. At this point she should already have had a cervical check via vaginal u/s..much less invasive. If it does turn out to be regular aches and pains...lots of women, myself included use stacks of thin pillows layered just right to help with sleeping at night. I kept them on both sides of me...to prop my back up and to prop my belly...and between my legs for hip support. Some very desperate women just make the move to a recliner at night to help. Hopefully she gets some relief soon.

I am due Dec 3rd. I can relate to the not sleeping thing. Last night I got up five times to use the bathroom and woke up about 3am with the worst heartburn I've ever had. I was also very uncomfortable and hot all night long....even with a body pillow, the a/c on and a fan going. UGH....not fun at all!

I am due....well 40 weeks is November 19th. I will have them by 38 weeks though according to my doc.

I can totally relate to all you wrote.

We have friends who are pregnant, but all with singletons and there are some issues that they just can't relate to
No kidding! I have been pg before, have a 2.5 yo, and it is totally different. Totally. I also found that while most did not envy my having two babies they did envy the attention me and the twins get. I know that sounds irrational but there it is. I don't know.

Lately it's been her lower ribs. They've been killing her.
Yep! I cannot stay in one position for very long because they start to hurt and ache. I find that I have to make sure my posture is almost perfect but then that gets tiring too so...just moving and changing positions is what I would suggest. I think it is normal though. Every time I tell my doc some of these discomforts he just looks at me like, "well you have two babies in there!" and smiles and says "uh-huh. totally normal."

Lastly, she's had trouble sleeping at night. A bit from being uncomfortable and a bit simply because she's not tired. Does any of this sound familiar?
I got insomnia with my first pg and have been having it with this one. Some nights I sleep from about 11-3 and then am up, totally unable to sleep, until about 5 then doze until DD gets up somewhere between 6 and 7. I often nap in the afternoons though too to try to catch up. Some of it too is that I get uncomfortable at night and then try to move which of course wakes me up because there is so much to move these days!

Good luck to you and your wife! I welcome you to TS it is a great place to relate to other twin families! I look forward to hearing more from you both!

It's the same for me! I'm due Dec 10th. She's experiencing things that are very typical - especially for being a first pregnancy, and TWINS no less! You're doing all the right things. Does she have a body pillow to sleep with at night? I use one on either side of me so that when I turn over I still have support.
