Jack and Lily turned 1 on Thursday and I just took them to our first ISR lesson. They screamed bloody murder the entire time. It will be a long four weeks, I am afraid!!!

I would love to hear how it went for you!

I did them with DD except not until she was 2. She screamed too for the first couple of times and then she got used to it and ended up loving it by the end. An 18 month baby followed her and by the end she was fine too. She had a hard time getting in the water and then into the middle of the lesson she would just stop crying.

You will love the results it is so worth it if you have a pool or water near you. I will do the boys either at the end of this Summer or early next Spring. I dont have a negative thing to say about ISR.

We did it!!!! Best thing ever. All 3 girls did their lesson last August/September (P and P 2.5 C was 9 months). The first week was hard...they cried alot. After about 25 lessons P and P were able to swim, float, swim and finish up classes. C went on to learn the full sequence that the usually don't teach until 1 year. We just went back in April for a 2 week follow-up. They gilrs all have done great, but C still need some work with her float.
2 weeks ago we were on vacation and everyone was shocked to see an 18 month old© jumping in the pool and swimming!!

When I was in college I had a part time job as an ISR instructor. I'm ashamed to admit that my girls are going on 4 and don't know how to swim. 1, you can't really do this with your own children and no one around here gives this type of lessons (or any type really) and 2) the water in our pools is SOOOO cold. None are heated and we are in the mountains so it gets cool over night even during the hot time of year.
I think the lessons are great. I wish they were more common.

My son took ISR last summer when he was 6 months old and learned to float. They are very thorough lessons, he was taught to float from any angle if he fell in (the instructor dropped him in from all different angles). It was hard to watch at first but well worth it since it's an added layer of security if he ever gets past the security doors and pool fence to fall in.

He is now 17 months and taking the swim/float/swim course. This is his last week (his 5th week this summer) and he is doing great. I would recommend ISR to any parent. The lessons are NOT harmful and your child will learn to love it. I get so mad when I'm at his lesson and other parents there give me judgmental looks because I'm being a responsible parent and teaching my child to survive. I live in Florida and there are several pools/ponds/lakes withing walking distance of my house.

The last 3 lessons include real-world scenarios including wearing PJ's, summer clothes with sandals and winter clothes with sneakers (all with a regular diaper which weighs a ton). The instructors make sure that your child will be able to survive in all situations.

    Here is the site: http://infantswim.com/

You can search by zip code to see if there are instructors in your area. If there aren't, you can request one be trained and available.

Thank you so much for this info. I just returned home from taking Griffin and Ella swimming alone. Not a great idea. Lots of my friend/parents were along, but I was a nervous wreck..this sounds perfect. I want them to be safe and secure. Can you tell me an approximate cost/schedule? THe closest instructor is over 1 hr. 45 min away...

It costs $105/child to register them, then around $100/week/for 5-7 weeks. So around $1200-1600 total for twins. You go for 10mins per child 5 days a week for 5-7 weeks.
    We start on Monday :)

We paid $65 per week...I know it really varies on your area. My sister paid 160 per week in her area.
I really believe that it is some of the best money we have ever spent!!!
