Any truth to cravings?

When I was pregnant with A & E, everyone said I must be having at least one boy because I was crazy for everything spicy. I was eating salsa on everything and sending my husband out for Thai and Ethiopian food whenever I could convince him. And chocolate...yum. Until I got GD and had to give up the sugar, I was craving Snickers ice cream bars and Dunkin Donuts chocolate cream filled (yuck!). I'm not sure why, but everyone attributed those things to my son. This time, when the nausea breaks (I actually had to get zofran to help with it :bad:), all I want are provolone cheese sandwiches with lettuce and tomato and lots of vinegar. To the point where I've literally had three of them since last night when my husband came home with more fresh rolls  We went to a party with this beautiful chocolate mousse cake...and I had to walk away because the thought made me ill. So do you think it's just the difference in every pregnancy, or is there some truth to the wives tales? What did you crave with yours? Has it been different with each pregnancy?

I've just been different with every pregnancy...but I must say that ice-cream has been consistent with every pregnancy...mostly due to heartburn!! My first pregnancy I actually craved broccoli of all things! (no wonder I only gained 21lbs total!) Then with the twins I just ate everything. I literally had 2 bowls of ice-cream every day towards the end. (amazingly only gained 31lbs total..the twins must've just sucked it right out of me!) And with my last pregnancy and this pregnancy I just want anything chocolate, and hit over 30 lbs to show for it...30 and counting right now!... the only difference has been that I seem to have less heartburn this pregnancy, so I do attribute that to the boy factor. In fact, it makes me wonder about the 'hair' wives' tale...'if your baby has lots of hair you'll have lots of heartburn.' And for me that has turned out to be true. My twin ds didn't have much hair, and I suspect this one won't have as much either. The girls, though, had lots of hair! We'll see!!

With my girls I craved sweets and fresh fruits with this one (boy) I craved meats, cheeses, salty stuff and ice cream. I've had heartburn with all of them and so far none of my kids have had much hair at birth.

With the twins I wanted BLT's and chocolate covered oranges LOL with baby kennedy (which I didnt know her gender) I ate my fill of cookies, cheesecakes and milkshakes (also in large part due to heartburn) but she was born with SOOO much hair I could put bows in it now if I wanted :)

Ive always heard sweet = girl and salty = boy. Are you going to find out the gender???

I also took zofran (with both pregnancys actually) although with the twins I was only sick about 3 weeks- with Kennedy I was sick for 10!!! It was a super rough first 16 weeks!

I don't think I can stand not to. Some friends tried to convince us that we don't need to know since we already have plenty of clothes for either gender, but I just don't think I can be that patient!

How cute that Kennedy has so much hair - my DD still doesn't have much at 18 months! I'd have better luck getting a ribbon to stay in her brother's hair than hers!

With the boys I definitely crave more meats, proteins, salty and spicy foods. With the girls all I wanted was sweet stuff - lollipops, candy, chocolate, cake, etc... That was one way I knew these were boys early on - anything sweet made me even sicker than I already was. And for some reason boys make me sicker in general. The pregnancy with the girls I hardly had any m/s but both boy pg have been rough (and this one had to be medicated to make it through the first 14 weeks)!

Let's see. With the twins I craved Chipotle's fajita burrito bowls and sweets a few times a week. Brownies w/ vanilla ice cream was my favorite. I was just insanely hungry in general. I had heartburn like crazy and both babies came out with a head full of hair. This baby is a girl and my cravings haven't been that bad, neither has the heartburn. I sometimes will want cereal with raisins in the evening, a cheeseburger with extra onions and pickles and a root beer, a handful of m&ms, but other than that nothing really comes to mind. It's been very different this time, I'm just not as hungry.

With both pregnancies I've just craved foods from my childhood.
The twins were girls and this time it's a boy.
