Any Sleep Lady success stories?

I have been reading different sleeping books and was wondering if anyone had used the Sleep Lady method. It has to do with staying in the room where the child can see you and each night moving back away from the crib towards the door. I was just wondering if this was an effective method for anyone? It is an alternative to CIO.

I'll let you know! We just started today [IMG]. So far I am SO SO SO happy.

We aren't working on night time wake ups yet because our big concern is going to sleep. Ours almost never go to sleep on their own (and I was ready to punch the next person who said "just put them down drowsy but awake") and the No Cry Sleep Solution wasn't working for us because they cried the instant their bodies hit the bed. I don't want to do CIO, but I was getting desperate because things had gotten out of hand (it wasn't just walking them down, it was walking while bouncing or rocking or going up and down stairs ... and then they were back up in 15 minutes). I tried letting them just cry in a moment of sheer exhaustion last week, and they sobbed uncontrollably for an hour, at which point I gave up/in.

I did today's nap following the Sleep Lady's advice (walked for 10 minutes or so, then put them down, rubbed their backs and talked reassuringly to them until they fell asleep). One went down after 40 minutes of controlled crying, the other after 20. And for the second nap, the 40 minute crier didn't cry at all! She babbled for 15 minutes and went to sleep. If this keeps up I will be a very happy lady.

We used the book when the girls were around 3 months old in order to get them sleeping in their cribs, and to get them only eating one time during the night, which for us was 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. It worked great for us - I love that book! I wish I would have had it from day one. Within a month of using the book both girls were sleeping in their cribs and had dropped their night feeding and were sleeping through.

Does anyone know about the author's background (i.e. pediatrician, etc...)?

I haven't read the rest of the posts but you can read what I am doing in "first year moms how are you doing". CIO worked for DD but not for DS. I haven't read the book you're talking about but I am doing something very similar with DS and it is working out great! Good luck!

We did this with DD, but she was 16 months old at the time. It worked wondefully, and she's slept through the night ever since.
