any of you make it to 4cm and not be in labor?

i am 37wks, 4cm, 90% effaced and not yet in labor. if you make it to my dilation, etc, how long was it before labor started?

 

My SIL was induced at 5cm at 38 weeks.

 

she had twins?

i know with singletons its different. i was 5cm dilated for 3wks with my daughter

 

i would say you are in labor, it's just not active labor yet. pre/early labor is by far the longest stage of labor. the fact that you're already 4 cm dilated is great - once active labor kicks in, you'll already be over the longest part. :good: i know that doesn't really change anything, but sometimes it can help your peace of mind to think of the situation in a different light. :hug:

also, if you do decide to go for the induction, being 4cm dilated & 90% effaced greatly increases your chance of a succesful induction. inductions are almost always smoother when your body has already started the process.

 

I was 5 and 95% effaced and not in labor. They had to start my labor due to they wouldnt send me home being so far dilated. I was jumping up and down in the hall attempting to break my water. Made my midwife crack up so hard she cried.

 

I was 4 at 36 weeks- my water broke at 37w5d. 2 contractions at the hospital while being checked. :tomato: Good luck!

 

well i am hoping something is going on. lots of pressure, still just whimpy contractions. bloody mucus, but not sure if its from last night's sex or not. it started at 9:30am and now at 3pm is still going (just clearish pink mucus with red streaks when I wipe nothing brown and its not spotting)

Congrats on making it to 37 weeks!!!

I was 80% effaced and 2cm for a month and never went into labor. The only reason I delivered at 35 weeks is because I had pre-eclampsia.

It sounds like bloody show to me, may be worth mentionning to your doc... It won't be long before your active labor starts! Exciting!!!

well the bloody show stopped last night around 8pm. and no babies yet, going in tomorrow at 8:15am to get my membranes stripped again.

 

I was 4cm dilated when I was checked at my appt. at 35.6 weeks, after being on bedrest for 4 weeks.
I am not sure how long that would have continued because I was sent to the hospital to be induced straight away. I can say my induction went VERY well. I think it had to do with being so far along in the process.
