our boys have just dropped their 3 am bottle about a month ago. I was sick of it and at this time, they didnt need it. Anyways, now they're getting up at 5 am and seem to think they need to be up for good. I have tried leaving them in their cribs until 6 but it's jusst not working...any suggestions? we have also tried putting them back to sleep but they sleep for like 10 min adn they're up again. AT night they go to bed at 7:30 so shouldnt they be able to sleep atleast until 6:30 or 7?

Yes, they should be able to sleep until 7am or so...my girls (7 months today) go to sleep at 6:30pm and wake up at 7am.....it took some work to get them to this....when they woke early like yours are doing (although it was months ago) I would just keep putting the paci back in over and over until 6am...i know it sounds likke such a pain, but the work really did pay off...i guess they finally just learned it was not worth it to wake up that early?? this is what their pedi told me to do....

My one DS did the same thing. We have a white noise machine that came with our playpen that I always turn on when I am putting them to bed. So for about a week, he would wake up at 5 and cry and I would go turn on the machine (not making eye contact!) and then let him cry. Now he rarely wakes up before 6 and they both know that they can't get up before 6:15.

My girls woke up early like that when they first started sleeping through the night. It was just a phase though, and only lasted a few weeks. After a few weeks they started sleeping until 6 or 6:30. And that became their usual wakeup time - sometimes I'm lucky and they sleep until 7.

Mine did that for about 2 weeks a couple of weeks ago. It was so frustrating for my husband and I. We would also go in and replace pacis and then just let them cry some. Our normal wake time was between 7-7:30. I vowed not to get them up before 7; however, some mornings I just had to because we all were getting frustrated. I always wake the 2nd baby once the first baby is up for the day. I like to keep them on the same schedule as much as possible. The funny thing was one week they tag teamed the early wakings . . . DS one morning, DD the next, then DS again . . . you get it. Good luck and try to stick to your guns. You don't want to allow this to become a habit.

You might try making their bedtime earlier. I know that seems backwards, but the sleep book I've been reading (by Weissbluth) states one reason an early wake up time happens is that the bedtime is too late. He suggests moving it back by 20 minutes and trying that for 4 days. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
