Any ideas for first birthdays?

Discussion in 'The First Year' started by twinladybugmom, Jun 23, 2007.

My twin boys will be 1 on August 7 and I wanted to know if any one had any cute ideas for a birthday party for them.

I do not have a lot of family and they are not around other kids, so it would be just us on their birthday but I still want it to be special.

    Any ideas?

We are having a party at a local park. We don't have a lot of friends with kids so it is going to be a little more of a party for us making it through the first year :D

We will have boccie ball and badminton, beer and some catered deli sandwiches. For the kids that are there they can play on the playground and there is one of those water play things - not sure what they are called but the water comes up from the ground - and balloons and of course cake.

The girls will each get their own cupcakes with a candle and birthday hats of some kind.

We're doing a backyard BBQ with family and friends. I ordered the Hugs and Stitches First Birthday decorations but other than that, we're keeping it super simple. I plan to do a cupcake tower, so we don't have to do cake cutting. I was going to just do a pretty in pink party, but then found these decorations for a great price. I would say keep it simple while you can! The days will come where they will want a commerical party and you'll be shelling out the big bucks! can't wait to hear what you decide!

Our first birthday party is in two weeks and we're doing a "FIRST DOWN" football theme. (Thanks to SweetpeaG who gave me the idea and designed the invites!)

The invitations were designed as football tickets, with a kickoff time, held at our "stadium", etc. They have pictures of the boys on them with their "rookie year stats" - birth weights and height vs today. They are so cute!

We're doing a backyard BBQ as well, 1/2 catered and 1/2 made myself. I purchased some football-related decorations and I bought jerseys for the boys to wear with an "O1" on them and their names.

I wasn't sure how football in July would go over, but everyone seems to really like the "First Down" theme and they loved the invitations. Good luck finding something you like!!

Their 1st and 2nd party was clown themed. My mom dressed as a clown, and they had cute clown cakes. It was really fun.

I would LOVE to see your invites. My guys' bday is in October. This sounds like a fantastic theme! Shannon
