Okay i am new my name is bobbi i just found out that i am pregnant with Twins However when i had My first ultrasound we only saw one baby and one heart beat the second sac looked empty but is measuring about 5 days behind. do we still have a chance for the second baby? i am trying not to get my hopes up but i will be sad if we lose one of the babies.

oh baby # 1 is measuring only 6 weeks 1 day when i should have been 6 weeks 4 days.

Do you know for sure when you got pregnant? It could be you are a couple of days off or they or the 2nd one are late implanters (that's still ok). When I went in for my 6 week ultrasound (I did IVF so I know for sure when we got pregnant) both had heartbeats however there are a lot of people that do not see the heartbeat until after that. My DR always said if we didn't see it on the 6 week u/s that I'd come back in a week to check again. It's still very early. Also - even though the u/s tech could see things in the sac it was hard for me to see much. Are you able to go back in another week for another ultrasound to check? Good luck and I hope you are able to see the other heartbeat. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

Thanks Girls i go back in exactly a week for a second ultrasound which should have been my first anyway. according to my chart the first baby is right on track. if i look at it i had another dip 5 days later it wasnt huge but i think that might have been the second Ovulation. according to LMP i am 6 weeks 6 days Today But according to U/S i am 6 weeks 3 days.

Hi Bobbi and welcome to Twinstuff! :wavey:

I believe that is somewhat common early on, I have no experience with it, but have heard of it happening to many people.

We did IUI and when we went for our 1st U/S at 6wks they only spotted one baby. We we went back for the second U/S a week later they saw 2 sacs. Depending on your ovulation and how you conceived that is very common.

    :welcome: to TS!
