My boys cant sit independently. From reading other posts, it seems like most are definately sitting by now. I really am not worried as I know it is a matter of time before they are but I guess I am just wondering if any other babies were not sitting. Seamus can sit for about a minute before leaning to one side. He really just needs a gentle touch to put him back in the sitting position. Nicholas though needs much more support. Just recently he stopped being so top heavy and sits straight now. He can sit for about 10 seconds only!!!

My guys are 8 months old and James will sit with a small amount of assistance, but Sean will topple over or slouch against me.

My boys will be 8 month on Sunday and can't quite sit on there own yet. Drew can sit leaning forward but topple one way or the other. I wouldn't be too worried, each baby develops at their own pace. I see many differences in my twins and have to keep reminding DH to stop comparing. Drew seems to be progressing quicker then slows down then Jake all of a sudden is ahead then slows down. If you are really concerned ask the ped at your next appointment, but I wouldn't worry too much, they will surprise you one day soon and be sitting pretty!

Just keep working with them. Mine could for a few seconds at 7 months, but not COMPLETELY. Definitely by 8 months they were sitting by them selves for extended periods of times.

Both of mine are sitting. My DS was sitting at 7.5 months. Continue practicing daily with pillows or a boppy surrounding them. I used to make sure they had a toy in front of them between their legs to lean on. This helped them keep their focus towards the front. Although believe me, they can topple forward just as easily as backward. They'll get it . . . just keep practicing.

Mine were almost 9 months old when they finally sat without assistance. Don't worry, they'll get it!

My girls will be 8 months on Sunday also and Haley is not sitting fully unassisted yet. She sits for a 2nd or too and then flops over. She would rather be on the floor crawling and playing.

Terri out twins were born on the same day!!

Definately relax. Mine are exactly 7.5 months and don't sit a bit by themselves, not even for a few seconds. Just talked to dr about it and he was not worried at all. Try not to compare. I definately can't compare mine to my full term 5 yr old, I can't even compare them to each other. Keep practicing and show them the ropes, they usually get it all of a sudden!

Don't even worry about it. My girl sat up independently since she was about 7 months, but my son couldn't sit on his own for more than a few seconds until he was 9 months old. However, by 10months I guess he decided he wasn't going to waste any more time because he learned to put himself in a sitting position, crawl on all fours(he did commando style before), pull himself up. Now at 11 months he's cruising around coffee tables and standing up without holding on.

Trust me, ENJOY their immobility while it lasts. You'll be ready to pull your hair out chasing after them before you know it!!!!

My Jacob and Noah are 7 1/2 months and can only sit up assisted. They are rolling and scooting around but not actually "crawling" yet.

Mine didn't sit unassisted until 7 1/2 months. I practiced with boppy pillows every day, until one day they just "got it" and were able to do it on their own. I think they were physically able to do it the whole time. Maybe they just needed to realize that sitting up was an option?

Kate was my real floppy one. She was army crawling and not sitting up very well on her own. Finally she realized how to get from a crawl position to a sit and figured out that she really could sit on her own.

Don't worry, they will get it. Just keep sitting them in boppys and encouraging them and they will realize that they can do this. And they may just get it on their own when they start getting more mobile.
