I am just curious of there are any asthmatics here. I am a chronic asthmatic and on medication all the time for control. With my son I was on prednisone 3 times during my pregnancy. I am usually on it at least 4 times a year. I just want to know what I have to look forward too the further along I get. Basically what to expect breathing wise.

I'm asthmatic and had some trouble breathing towards the end but the doctor had me using the nebulizer and that helped a lot. I found that my asthma eased up a bit during the pregnancy, could be because of the healthier eating/living habits though. Not sure.

My asthma is allergy triggered so during allergy season it was really bad. If you are going to go through an allergy season (fall), make sure you start your medication ahead of time so you don't need to do a lot of rescue inhaler. I am almost 32 weeks and so far my breathing has been fine even though they are taking up so much room, however, whenever I get a cold or allergies, it gets worse. Good luck.

I am asthmatic - but during my pregnancy it actually got a little better. I have not had to use my rescue inhaler at all. It does get a little harder to breathe with the babies pushing up - but not really an attack.

Thanks girls. I am never off my medication, its something I take everyday and have since the age of 7. I am on Symblicort at the moment and it's working great for me. I havent had to use my ventolin since March. It's allergy season here now, but it's my eczema is going crazy. I am hoping fall I can make it through without having to take a course of Predinsone.

I am asthmatic and had to take my medication everyday. My asthma does much better when I keep in better shape. So, I exercised regularly and took my meds. It got better during second trimester and then the third it was okay. But while I was pushing, Baby B was moving up into my chest while I was pushing Baby A out. Stay on your meds and make sure that your nurses know the severity of your asthma while you are in the hospital.

You will be just fine....the power of positive thinking is huge!
