I'm worried about everything tonight. I was taken off Indocin (to control contractions) because it is negatively impacting the babies' fluid. So, now I'm on no meds to see how things go. Of course, the contractions have increased (not enough to go to L&D) which seems to increase my anxiety as well. Now, I'm concerned about my thigh that aches. I keep thinking about blood clots. I've been on bedrest for 8 weeks. I'm up several times a day to go to the bathroom, take a bath, and get food/water. That's enough to avoid clots, isn't it? Also, yesterday I was up for several hours for a dr. appointment and u/s. Tell me that I am just imagining all this blood clot stuff and that I'm just being silly.

I am so sorry you are going through a hard time right now. I hope things get better soon. If you have any concerns, I would definitley call your dr. and talk about them. That's what they get paid the big bucks for!! :)

I hope you can find some peace soon. :)

I don't know anything about clots, just wanted to send you a hug. I would discuss at length with your doc your concerns. Hang in there.

Of course with time on your hands on bedrest, you are going to think the worst. Did you talk to the doctor yesterday about the pain in your thigh? Is it the front, the back? If you continue to have concerns, don't hesitate to call the doctor, that's what they are there for.

Can you talk with your doc about putting you on a baby aspirin or regular checking of your platlets? I'm on bed rest too so I understand how lying around all day makes it hard not to feel everything and worry about every twinge. I have the opposite problem as you, I am missing a factor in my blood so I do not clot well and I am obsessessing about haveing a C-Section!!

Blood clots are very rare, but if you are having pain there, I would recommend getting it checked out. I wasn't even on bedrest yet and in fact have a job where I run around a lot, and I developed a blood clot in my leg at 18 weeks. I don't have any other risk factors for a clot except that I am pregnant. I don't want to scare you...it is probably still very unlikely, but given how serious it is, I would just get it checked out to be sure. They will do an ultrasound on your leg which doesn't hurt and only takes a few minutes...worth it to find out.

i don't have any advice, but that stinks! I laid around the day after Thanksgiving while my dh, BIL and Dad golfed. I was bored out of my mind. I am always impressed to read about all you bed resters! Way to go.

Did your doctors talk about trying Procardia at all? I was taken off Indocin about the same time as you are, because it isn't supposed to be taken in the third trimester. But I had also been on Procardia since 22 weeks and stayed on it until delivery.

You're definitely up enough to keep those blood clots away.

Don't stress yourself out. Talk with your doctor about your worries.

Thanks everyone. I really think I was over reacting. That happens when you lay around and over analyze every little twinge. I'm feeling much better today. I did a little online research and it looks like there would likely be redness or swelling if there was a clot. It's not hurting now. This is TMI, but I sort of think it was related to the cramps I'm having due to constipation. I used to feel AF cramps in my thighs too.

    Susan,

We cross posted. :) Procardia is the one we will try next. I think the OB wants to go without any meds if possible, but will put me on the Procardia if the contractions persist. They really aren't all the frequent right now (surprisingly). I'm keeping very good records about how often I have them and how long they are. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to check my cervix, the babies' fluid level, and just how things are going in general.

I've been on Procardia and it's worked very well for me. But I think it's good to go med-free as long as you can.

Also, ask your doctor about TED hose or some sort of support hose to wear. I've had to wear them in the hospital and it's really eased my mind about blood clots. (They help prevent them.) Also, talk to your doctor about leg exercises (or foot exercises) that you can do in bed to help keep your blood moving.

It really is so hard not to worry about every little thing while on bed rest. :hug99:

Again...I would just at least mention to your doctor. I did not have ANY redness or swelling (just pain) and I had a clot. I wasn't on bedrest and was moving a lot. I know it is still rare and unlikely...I just don't want you to get worse.

Update: I saw the doctor today and mentioned the leg pain. He checked me out and said I don't need to worry. I figured as much, but it's nice to hear it from the dr.

I would keep an eye on the thigh pain -- it is often a symptom of labor (one that I had early on). :hug99:
