Am I totally crazy for feeling this way? My Dad and Stepmom live in Canada but they have houses here and in NewOrleans too, so they hardly ever get to see the boys. My dad is the BEST with babies, he is so patient and loving and so is my stepmom. So since they are home this week I told them it would be ok to take the boys to their house for the day. They wanted to give me a break and I can definitely use one! They only live 20 minutes from me and DH and I are picking them up at 5:00 and then going to dinner. They just left and I feel like a nervous wreck. This is the first time since they were born that I will be away from them the whole day, DH takes them to his parents for half the day on Sunday but they are with DH and I usually go there later. There are always a ton of people over my inlaws on the weekends so they get socialized plenty I'm just worried about them being with unfamaliar people all day with out me there. Tell me they will be fine and not completely cranky when I get them. I feel like a total psycho mom. I think maybe I need to do this more often because I feel like this isn't normal to be this crazy. :(

They will have fun... Mine stayed all nigth with grandma at 7 weeks and then me and DH had a night away at a nice resort in Sept... It was hard and i missed them but refueling is awesome if oyu ask me... ;) I know that when my mom has them they will actually just be having the time of their lives... :)

I'm so jealous. I would love a few hours with DH if the girls could be somewhere that they were loved and adored and well taken care of.

I totally understand though. As much as I want to find a few hours by myself - I can't imagine it will be very relaxing and I'm sure I'll be calling every 10 minutes.

Try to enjoy it. They'll love seeing you when you get back and you'll be rejuvinated.

You're not crazy...unless I am too. I worked a waitress shift this week from 4:30to 9:30. My babies go to sleep at 6:30 so technically I was only away from them for two waking hours and I FREAKED! I had to fight the tears as I pulled out of my garage. I wanted to call but I knew that if I heard crying in the background I would just leave in hysterics. Of course, they were fine and yours will be too!

Your babies are going to be completely spoiled all day long - held and snuggled constantly, rocked around the house, adored and sung to, their diapers are going to be changed before they're even wet! You should go take a long, hot shower/bath and then take your time drinking a nice cup of tea. When you go to pick up your babies later they are going to give you the biggest smiles you've ever seen. Today is a good day for all of you - babies with adoring grandparents, mama recharging her batteries (well deserved, I'm sure!).
