    Hi,

Here is the story. I started having a severe throat infection and cough last Friday. In the evening, it developed into high fever. I had Tylenol that night and 2 of them the next day and my fever was gone. But I was left with severe throat pain, cough and cold. I thought it'd go off on its own, but till today it did not (even after 6 days). So, finally today I went to my PCP. She examined me and said that I had bronchitis!!!!!!!! She has prescribed me amoxicillin.
I asked her more than once if it was safe to take during pregnancy and she said it's fine. I asked the pharmacist too. Still I have this fear inside me that it might harm my babies somehow!!!!!! I know I'm being paranoid, but just want reassurances that I can have amoxicillin and my babies will be alright!!!!

When I was 5 months pregnant with my son, I had strep throat and my doctor prescribed amoxicillin to take for 10 days. He said it was fine and so did my OB. If your doctor says it's okay, I wouldn't worry about it.

My doc said that was fine to take as well, but he always gives me z-pac which I just came off of for brochitis as well. For my terrible cough though he prescribed 2 inhalers and now my cough is finally gone.

I am on my fourth round this pregnancy for another sinus infection. I am also taking prednisone and several inhalers. The doctors have reassured me that everything I am taking is safe for the babies. You do not want the infection in your body with the babies, this can do more damage than any antibiotic. Amoxicillin is one of the safest out there. You will be fine, I know it is hard not to worry but the doctors would not give you something that was not safe without involving you in that decision. I hope you feel better soon.

If this does make you feel better I dont' know what will-
I took amoxicillian MY ENTIRE PREGNANCY...everyday, for a chronic condition I had. The Drs and high Risk PERI all Ok'd it. I would have preferred nothing at all...but I also had to take High Blood Pressure meds the whole time. I was on/off Magnesuim Sulfate toward the end and that made me more nervous than any other med!

    My girls are perfect! :D

    Hope you feel better soon!

During my pregnancy, I was on Amoxicillin, followed by 2 z-pack's for bronchitis that would not go away. Everything turned out fine. I hope you feel better soon!
