We haven't had a kid on antibiotics since last summer...well, Morgan is on Omnicef for an ear infection and totally had the antibiotic diarrhea EVERYWHERE today! I had forgotten that that happens. Poor thing. I had JUST changed her diaper and 5 mintues later she's like "Mommy, I soakin'" I was like, "Morgan, you need to tell mommy before you pee so we can sit on the potty." She just looked at me funny. So, another 10 minutes goes by and she's still telling me she's soakin. So, I finally check her, she was FILLED with diarrhea, it was so gross! I'm like, "DON'T MOVE!!!" LOL!! I was quickly reminded what those antibiotics do.

Then, she finished her milk (which she shouldn't have with the diarrhea) and then asks for apple juice (which I only give half juice half water)....stupid me gives her the apple juice! DUH!!! I had to sneak her cup away adn put just water in it.

Man, I think I have some crazy mom-nesia with having a new baby these days...lol!

We are having some nasty Amoxicillin diapers this week. So I definitely feel your pain. Liam is on that and on prednisone and a nebulizer with albuterol. He has RSV and an ear infection. Yuck!

My boys were just on an antibiotic for a skin rash, and now have some sort of horrible bacteria called C difficile that has made blood appear in their poopy diapers! EEK! My doc says not to worry and just keep pushing the yogurt. All I know is that it STINKS like I have never had a diaper stink. I HATE antibiotics.

Omnicef is one of the worst ones for the diarrhea side effect. I HATE it, and that's what they always put Caleb on. He has severe diarrhea during the whole course of it. I feel your pain!

Have you tried probiotics?? We've used Culturelle when they've gone on antibiotics in the past. These are capsules of the same "good" bacteria found in yogurt, except at a much higher concentration. You open the capsules and mix the powder into a drink (we put it in milk). It's totally safe for babies/kids. The 2 times times I gave it to the boys, they had NO diarrhea at all on the antibiotics. This was a opposed to the time before that when Sam had diarrhea the whole ten days he was on the antibiotic PLUS several days after. The only downside is that this stuff is really expensive - around $20 a box. I think it helps if you can get a dose in them before you start the antibiotics too.

I've been giving her Florastor (which is behind the counter at the pharmacy), sounds like the same type thing. We tried yogurt today, which they normally love, and she wouldn't eat it.

I have to kind of laugh, she keeps coming up to me saying "Mommy, I got more 'reas." LOL!
