So I know there has been a fair amount of discussion about speech and delays but what is normal? C&C have been on target or early with cognitive and motor skills but with speech, they make a lot of noises but no words to speak of (LOL). Should dd be worried at this point? When should they be evaluated for ST?
    Thanks!

If your DD is concerned, she should talk to her pedi about it. I think it never hurts to look into it since early intervention is best, but yes, sometimes it does take twins longer to talk.

MIne had around 50 words at 18 months and now they don't stop talking, lol. it really can happen overnight!

Mine have just started talking (only saying 1 word at a time) in the last couple months. Even still, Caleb - who says his whole alphabet, will only say about 10 words.

We had them assessed in March and they are fine - they understand everything so the person was not worried about them at all. Just said they were late talkers

Each child is different and develops differently. But, I will tell you I just met with a speech pathologist (we have male genetic speech delays), and by 18-24 months, they should be putting two words together, like Mommy go, Me do, etc. Mine don't even say single words...not really even momma or dadda consistently. However, having just gone through this with my older ds, I know that all of a sudden at around 2.5-3, he is saying everything, to the point where I would like him to be quiet on occassion- lol! So, you can always call your local early intervention people, but you can also try not to worry and know that it will come when it will come.

My girls are 21 months and JUST put their first two words together this week (bee shu = big shoe). At 18 months they had a grand total of 0 words. We're seeing a speech therapist, but I'm not sure how much good it's doing. I think mostly they like to go play :). Over the last month or so, they've really taken off in words. Not much of it sounds like English, but they're getting the idea that things have sounds to describe them. If you're worried, I'd get an evaluation. Nothing ventured, nothing gained :)

Jack says a couple words, and Lilly says "mama" and "dada" on occasion. Our OT said not to worry yet, give them a few more months. I didn't know there is a connection, but she said speech follows walking. Since they were a little behind on the walking, the speech will follow.
