Had to take the boys back to the Pedi this afternoon b/c their colds were getting worse. They were coughing so bad that they were getting gagged and choked on the mucas. It was scaring the crap out of me. She said Cooper has an EI in his left ear and a mild case of RSV. She said he's not wheezing yet so she only gave him a mild antibiotic for the EI. We have to go back in the morning for her to listen to his lungs again. She said it might get worse since we just started hearing it in his chest today.

For Eli she is just calling it a cold right now b/c his symptoms just started a couple days ago and the gagging/coughing just starteed yesterday. She said his could most likely turn into RSV too. So I have to keep an eye on him.

If you have experienced RSV did both twins get it? How severe was it and what did they get for it?

    Thanks Ladies!!!

[IMG]Oh no, Stephanie. We had RSV awhile back, both babies got it, within a few days of each other. Jacob had to get breathing treatments, Emma did not. They were both on antibiotics for ear infections. As far as the actual virus, it's just that, a virus, and there is nothing that will cure it as far as meds. The biggest thing is keeping them well-hydrated. Most of the time when babies end up in the hospital, it is because they are dehydrated. If they aren't drinking full bottles, offer smaller amounts, more often. You can give them some Pedialyte also, it will help to thin the mucous a bit. If you notice them wheezing, call your ped. Hang in there. [IMG]

I also wanted to add, that because they are 10 months, it will not be AS bad, as if, say a 3 month old got it. [IMG]

When my boys were little (about 4 months) one got RSV. Thank goodness the other twin never did get it, having one was bad enough.

He didn't have to be hospitalized, we treated it with a nebulizer at home. Turned out to be good we got it since he's now been diagnosed with asthma so everytime he catches a cold it goes right to his chest.

I hope your little ones get feeling better soon!

Oh Stephanie, I'm so sorry to hear Cooper has RSV! I sure hope it is a very mild case, he gets better fast, and that Eli doesn't get it.

So far if one of my twins is sick, the other gets sick too. But we've not had RSV.

    Sending hugs!!

Jazzy caught RSV when the girls were 2 months old. I took her to the dr and he told us since I have asthama and all the things to treat it(nebulizer) that he'd give me the meds and I could treat her. Jessy only got a very mild case of it because we caught hers early and started giving her meds immediately. They both showed improvement pretty quick. Jazzy now has athmama due to the RSV and predispostion due to having oxygen at birth and both parents having asthama. Jazzy is also my A twin and my larger twin and she tends to get sick more than Jessy. Just keep a close eye on Eli and start treating him ask soon as he seems to be as bad as Cooper. Jazzy's RSV was Moderate and Jessy was mild. The girls got Xopenex and maybe something else but I don't remember. We keep Xopenex on hand in case Jazzy has an asthama attack or a severe cold/cough.

    Thanks Ladies!!

The Pedi re-checked Cooper this morning and he sounds a tad bit better so we aren't going to do any breathing treatments at this point, just watch him. His ear infection moved into both ears now but I would have never known it b/c he's not pulling, no fever etc. We will keep up the Omniceft(sp?) for the EI. I was hoping she would give him the nebulizer in case he starts getting worse but she wants to wait. She did say keep a very close eye on Eli(he was at home with the sitter) b/c she didn't think his had reached it's worst yet [IMG] He woke up with a lot more and thicker gunk coming from his nose this morning and starting to rattle a bit in his chest. So far yesterday no EI for him! I just worry about him(he is my bigger guy) more b/c he seems to be the one that everything happens to, poor guy [IMG] So my mom may be bringing him back this afternoon and I will leave work once again to meet them at the docs if he is worse.

I know the Pedi's have to be cautious with prescribing meds and I am glad for that on one hand but on the other hand I have to keep bringing the boys back when it seems clear what direction they are headed in. So far since yesterday I've spent $60 on Co-pay's and $30 on meds. I've had to leave work, be late for work and have family help me with getting the boys back and forth. So aggravating!
