My baby boy is on Zantac, which has helped with the pain and spitting up right after his bottles. But once or twice a day now about 2 hours after he eats he starts having bubbles/mucus/milk come out his mouth and nose, and he is unable to breath until I suction him with a bulb syringe. Then he arches his back and throws his head back screaming. Is this still his reflux? Has anybody else had the bubbles out the mouth and nose? He freaks me out everytime he does this!

Sounds like reflux to me but we did not have bubbles in the mouth and nose. I would call the Ped and let them know it is happening (if they are not aware yet) and see if they have any suggestions to help besides the same---keep them upright after a feed. Maybe adding some cereal to the bottle will help keep things down (per the Ped of course). That really helped us along with Prevacid.

That is the same thing we have happen. The Doctor said it is normal with reflux and once it is under control that will stop

So do you ladies think I should have his dosage increased or try another med?

Ana used to do that and it scared the **** out of me! I'd bulb her and then she was ok. Along with Zantac, we propped the head of the bed (pnp at the time) or she slept in her car seat or bouncy. We kept her upright for 45 minutes to an hour after eating. Around 4 months old she stopped throwing up out her nose, but even now she spits up after almost every bottle. We talked to the doctor about it and she said that if she isn't in pain, the spitting up is just a laundry problem.

If you are worried, call you doctor to let him/her know what is going on... its why you pay them the big bucks! -Leighann

Zantac did nothing for us. I would call the ped and ask for a different med(because he seems in pain with the arching), and also ask if you can weigh the formula down with cereal. :hug99: Definitely keep him upright in a swing or bouncy.

We were told no swings, bouncys or car seats today. Only the exersaucer or lying on his right side on an incline. amazing how every doctor is different. Ugggggg!
