First let me start off saying that neither me or the girls are ready to potty train. But, they like to hang out with me when I use the bathroom so I thought maybe I should take it to the next step. Should I start sitting them on the potty to get them used to it?

How about potty equipment? I would prefer the seat ring since the thought of having a chair kind of grosses me out. I also realize I may not have a choice in the matter. I see a lot of people prefer the baby bjorn potty chair. Has anyone tried the Ikea potty chairs? Their only $4 each and since I'll probably have to buy 2 as well as a seat I thought they would be worth considering.

    TIA

I did NOT want potty seats - didn't want to deal with the transfer of 'product' to the toilet and the cleaning! :bad: BUT...when all was said and done, that's what they needed. They got their OWN - Dora and Diego seats and they LOVED THEM! That helped a TON when trying to train them!

All kids are different, but that helped us!! PLUS - they feed off each other. If one is going and getting a prize or whatever, the other one will suddenly need to be on the potty. So it's best (IMHO) to have two!

Good luck when you are ready!

I used the Bjorn chairs in the beginning, mainly because when you first start the training process you are making SO many trips to the potty, and it's really nice to have one right there when you need to hurry! After they got the hang of it, we switched over to using the regular potty fairly quickly.

I have never seen an Ikea potty chair in person, but just Googled, and they look very similar to the Bjorns that we have.

I only used a potty chair for my oldest DD. I hated the mess of it. All my boys have trained on the actual toliet itself with no problems. I say forget the potty chair!
