Okay, so it's been a while since we have been pee trained. Sarah since October, and Allison since November. However, I CAN"T GET THEM TO POOP!! I'm sure its my own fault, but they come to me when they need a pull-up and then go do their business and then come back for me to change them back into their panties. So, I know they can. Here's what I've been thinking, I am thinking about just ditching the pull-ups and going cold turkey. I am afraid that they will just hold it and then end up constipated. Will that happen, or am I just being a worry wart? I have been trying to wean them away from them and we've been trying to poop on the potty, but just no luck. They practically hold it until bedtime and then when I give them a pullup for nighttime, that is when they poop. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to poop? It's just so weird that they are totally fine with peeing (no accidents in forever) but refuse to poop. I'm getting a little tired of changing pull-ups <_<

Mine pretty much do the same thing. One of them actually had it down for a couple of weeks, then went back to doing it in his pants. And holding it. So I started them on Miralax to avoid them from getting constipated. What I have found that works with one of them is to take something special away and tell him he can't have it until he is a big boy and poops on the potty. That has seemed to work. Last night we had big success!! And I made a huge deal about it, and the rest of the family did to. He was so proud. Then the other one wanted to try, but didn't really have to go yet. He was upset, so I am hoping this will coax him into going on the potty as well. So maybe try taking something special away from them, or promise them a special 'big girl' reward if they go on the potty. I think my DH promised them baseball shoes since my oldest will be starting baseball again this spring. Let's hope we can find them in his size!!

I am having the same issue with Jake, he waits for the diaper at "naptime". I have no idea what to do about it! I guess about the only thing we can do is go diaperless? I can only IMAGINE what "naptime" would be like if I did that! :80:

Rachel-First off, it's not your fault they won't poop in the potty. I feel your pain though, Emilie still won't poop in the potty either. <_< However, she is just in undies, so she just poops in them. However, if I were you, I would ditch the pull ups. I've never used them so I am not sure if you should wean them or just stop cold turkey. :pardon: If they seem to be getting constipated then just be sure you are adding more fiber to their diet to help compensate. But maybe they will surprise you and poop in their underwear, and maybe they won't like that. That may be what you need. I keep looking myself for any advice on this. We can commiserate together. <_<

Becky, Emilie was doing the same thing. So I stopped putting her in a diaper at naptime. The first day, she practically begged me for a diaper. But I didn't put one on her, and she has stayed dry at nap time. :good:

    pullups are diapers.

If you really want to potty train, ditch the pullups (some moms aren't ready - I look to my sister here...) Here is the thought I have (and have PT #3) DITCH the pullups. You cannot PT if you diaper your child. No matter what you think... they know if you put them in a diaper...

plastic sheets, real underpants... I think they will surprise you.

If they can ask to poop in a pull up, they can go in a potty.

I am going through the same thing with my two. I really don't use pull-ups. Only when I have burned through all of my clean Elmo panites and I need to do laundry. For a while, they would just wait days to poop, but now they just go in their panties when the finally can't hold it anymore. I just try to make a huge deal out of how happy mommy, daddy and Elmo will be if they poop in the potty, but no sucess yet. Hopefully soon.

I only use pull-ups for extended public trips and bed-time (they pee like CRAZY in their sleep and I'm not pushing sleep PT'ing right now). My boys poop in their undies all the time. It's DISGUSTING. I'm so tired of it. I'm the opposite in that I tried to get them to use the pull-up to poop but they refuse.

We're still having poop issues here too. Allina for a while would just poop in her underwear or pull up, whichever she had on, but now she has started holding it, whether she has on underwear or a pull up. Its not fun, mostly because I worry about her not going for several days. So, I'm no real help, but I understand your worry. I'd say if they usually wake up dry, try taking the pull ups away for the poop issue and see how it goes.
