Another new introduction :)

Discussion in 'Pregnancy Help' started by lisamoneymaker, Nov 10, 2009.

I just had my first OB appointment and confirmed we're having twins :) Both are measuring 7w4d. We're assuming Fraternal, since this was the result of a frozen embryo transfer of 3 little ones.

    A little about us:
We have a 4 year old daughter (Clomid) and a 19 month old son (IVF/FET). These babies will be from the same set of embryo's as our son, which we think is pretty cool.

I'm still a little hesitant, since we had a vanishing twin with my son at 9 weeks, but this one just 'feels' different. Just wanted to say 'Hi!'

One question, if anyone's still reading :) - one of the sac's 'appeared' to be quite a bit larger than the other... anybody seen anything like that before?

:yahoo: Congratulations on your twins! :welcome: to TS! I did not have experience with one sac being larger then the other, did your doctor say anything about that? Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy!

My one son was always larger than his twin, even from the beginning. What did your dr say about it?

  3. She said we'd keep an eye on it, and that it could just be the angle (she was having a hard time getting them both in view at the same time - they seemed to be lying almost perpendicular to one another). She said if they were ID, she might be worried about TTTS, but there's no reason at this point to think they're ID. From the views we had, it was pretty significantly larger - like maybe double or triple. A big black void around the baby on the one, then a more normal sac size on the other.

Did I mention how excited I am to be here :)

Yay congrats to you! That's awesome. I dont' know a lot about the larger sac, but I have read of it happening before to quite a few.... so it will be interesting to read the responses you get. Don't worry, I am sure it will all be fine. I didn't have an ultrasound until 14 weeks, when we found out it was twins, so by then they were both measuring larger. Anyway, good luck and welcome.

welcome! one of my sacs measured smaller and i was told that it would likely vanish. even at my 10 week visit, one baby measured 10 wks and the other measured 9 weeks. i was again told that we might lose the smaller one, but never did. luckily our babies dictate what happens to them, not the doctors... lol. hang in there and congrats!!

When I had my 1st u/s around 6wks A's sac was larger than B's sac. Also B measured behind A by 3-4 days. They have pretty much caught up with each other now. Good luck congrats

Hi! I'm new here too. Congrats on the twins and a successful FET cycle!!!!! I'm 16 weeks with twins from a fresh IVF cycle in August. I was told I had poor egg quality and the chances of BOTH embie taking was quite slim. Well, here we are! I don't remember the sacs being that different in size, but I do know the twins have always measured differently by a few days. I've had three friends who had 'vanishing twins' with their recent IVF cycles, so I thought for sure that would be me too...but here I am! Getting a look at the heartbeats is a very good sign.
