Okay, this seems like a dumb question, because I've heard of people saying you still have bleeding after a csection; but is that only if you ended up "going into labor" and then having the csection???

As of today I am still only 1cm dilated and my cervix is thick. If no further progression takes place before my scheduled csection on Tuesday, will I still bleed after delivery or does the doctor suction out most of the extra fluid and tissue???

Yes you will still bleed. But in my case it wasnt near as heavy as it was with a vaginal birth and a lot shorter. Good Luck on Tuesday and cant wait to hear your birth story

Yep, you will still bleed. But like Tina mine was far less than my vaginal birth from my oldest DD.

Don't worry I had no idea I would bleed either.

Bleeding is inevitable! I bled for 3 months after my c-section! This is what I so do not look forward to in September.

I didn't really know that either. I never even gave it much thought really. But yes, you will and for me, it lasted a long time. I had a lot of clots (like golf ball sized) the first few weeks and the bleeding lasted about 8 weeks total.

yup, we spend 40 weeks give or take without a care in the world when it comes to bleeding and then bam! we get hit big time and just think if it as a really really bad period that can last for weeks.

Oh yes you will......now if you are pumping or bf...it will stop the flow or minimize it some.

I bled after my section. But only for a few weeks. My doc said that they go in and "wipe" out your uterus more so when you have a c-section. Not sure about all docs but mine did. I found the bleeding, for me, to be less than I expected. And I was two weeks late with DD! GOod luck!

It was at least 2 months of bleeding here. It wasn't really too heavy...just there.

I bled for about 8 weeks after my c-section. I didn't know at the time but I was having contractions before my scheduled C.

Oh yes definitely. And much more heavily than you might expect! I had to send DH out a couple times to buy more heavy duty pads - in fact, I even wore Depends for the first 10 days or so because I was bleeding so much even the biggest pads were not enough!! My advice is to stock up on different sized pads - buy more than you think you need. I bled for 8-9 weeks, with 3 weeks of intense bleeding.

  18. Scheduled c-section with 8 or so weeks of bleeding..... sorry.

Nope you don’t get out of bleeding unfortunately. I bleed longer after my C-section then my friend did who had a vaginal delivery.

I have had 6 c-sections....I found that if I overdid it, I bled more...alot more, if I took it easy, then less bleeding, just like a normal period. Mine only lasted about 4-6 weeks (diffferent for each of my pregnancies). They after-bleeding would slow down and seem to almost stop, and then start again........it will not be a "bright red" blood all of the time either.....at first it is, and then it turns that "brownish" color of old blood.

I breastfed all of my kids, if that makes a difference.

I bled for about 3 weeks but then it tapered off and it was really light for like a week and then it stopped. In the hospital was pure **** though....I bled really bad afterwards.

I bled worse after the c-section than I did with a vaginal delivery. But, as someone else mentioned, it's a lot better if you follow your doctor's instructions and take it easy. I did way too much those first few weeks and hemorraged badly, which made the bleeding worse.

Just keep in mind that your body may respond differently. It may be bad it may be just fine. :)

I wonder if it's different with a single rather than twin c-section?? I had some bleeding after my c-section with my son but to be honest I don't even remember details. It seems like it only lasted a couple weeks and I don't recall it being particularly heavy except the first few days.

I had 2 c-sections. One I labored and then went into emergency c-section. The 2nd one was a scheduled c-section. So I don't think it really matters if you labor or not! I don't really remember exactly how long I did but it doesn't seem like it was for very long! I don't remember too much about my first son being born or afterwards...which I really hate but I don't really think I bled that long! Now I'm pregnant with twins and I'm hoping it's not really that much different...lol

    Yes, you do - unfortunately.
You will bleed less than a natural birth person does since the OB removes a good portion of the blood. I had heavy bleeding for the first week and then it lessen with time. I bleed for 3 1/2 weeks. But the length of time varies by person.
