My first 2 were v/b so this c/s thing is new to me. When did you get over it? It has been almost a month now and I am still very soar. Also, my bms have not balanced out yet... (TMI, sorry) Im still needed some warm prune juice almost once a day to stay regular. Im also still moving a bit slow, physically that is. Id love to get past this, when did you feel 100% again?

Sorry, another C/S question, I fat fingered the A in there...

I'm 13 weeks out from my c/s and I don't know that I'm 100% yet. I have my good days and ... my bad days. My skin still "hurts". It's hard to explain and I've yet to talk to someone that had a v/b that has had the same feeling. It's like my skin gets soar from the friction of clothing and even if clothing has been no where near that area it can sometimes be soar. This "area" is not near the incision site ... it's above on the "pouch". The lovely little pouch ... my skin there is still numb too. Some days it itches like crazy and then other days it's like I never had a c/s. It's really weird and I'm sorry if it sounds really bad. It's probably just me ... I don't like it when my body changes ... don't get me wrong ... I have absolutely fallen head over heels with my boys but the toll the pregnancy took on my body is something I'm still trying to get used to. My doctor told me that it could take months for the soarness, numbing sensation and itchiness to go away. I just take it day by day; it's all I really can do. I'm hoping to be back to somewhat of my normal self by the time the boys are 6 months which is just in time for summer. Now, if I could just get my hubby to buy that treadmill ...

Just curious, what does this mean?

I had a much harder recovery with my c-sect. than I did my vaginal birth. I think it was about 2 months before I felt like I could move normally. My incision site is still numb and I have weird tingles in the area a lot. After about 3-4 weeks PP I did start to regulate and get back to normal a bit. I bet you're close to getting back to normal.

ON my key pad I hit the A instead of the S. They are right beside eachother.

Im glad to know Im not the only one. I was starting to worry that something was wrong. How about your back? The epideral still really hurts and I get shooting pains up my spine and into my head. I have a huge ugly bruise on my lower back! This c-section stuff is for the birds! give me a v-birth any day!

It takes quite a while to recover, a few months at least. To this day 11 months later it is still numb and wierd feeling. I used stool softeners for about 6 weeks, I think the pain meds are constipating too.

Honestly, I didn't feel back to normal until about 6 to 8 weeks. That's when I finally felt that I could move around without feeling pain or needing any pain medicine. It really does take time for the body to heal.

BTW: Try Miralax - great stool softner. Good Luck!

I'm 10 weeks post c-section and still have a lot of what pp described......numb, strange feeling, don't like anything touching my stomach, some pain.....not sure how I'm going to go back to work in 2 weeks. None of my clothes fit.

I don't think I fully recovered from my c-section until I hit about 4 months post partum. It definitely was a slow process but c/s is major surgery (and I had my tubes tied) so it does take a while to fully recover. Hang in there ladies and take it easy as you possibly can!

I was good after a month, but my c/s was my third abdominal surgery. It was nothing compared to my appendectomy. I was also forced into getting off my pain meds so I could drive myself to the hospital to visit my boys. I was in such an emotional overload that I didn't have time to think about it. As far as being regular, I wasn't regular to start with, but after a month or so (and still) I've been more regular than ever in my life. I hope it gets better for you soon!

I felt normal after about 8 months. I had an infection in mine so I took longer to heal. Im still sore there and get some weird tingles once and awhile.

I was at 6 months post surgery when I sat straight up out of bed and felt zero pain. I am 7.5 months out now and still have numbness on my incision. I am just now getting into my pre-preg clothes after a lot of hunger pains and sweating, my two least favorite things!

I started taking 2 Citrucel tablets a day and that has made a huge difference in the BM area. I used to just cry. I just cut it down to one a day because it really does help. I had a lot of issues in this area. I'd say the soreness was much better by 8 weeks. I was pretty much back to normal by 6 weeks but it was by 8 that I really couldn't feel any more soreness and felt more like "me".

I had some pains inside (the muscles healing, not the incision) for about 2 weeks but then I was back to normal. I think that was unusual, but it was because I had recently had major emergency abdominal surgery at 30 weeks pregnant, so the c/s recovery was a breeze compared to that! I tried not to take any narcotics unless I needed them, due to the constipating factor, so if you are taking any meds I would recommend just doing a tylenol/ibuprofen combo (they work on different kinds of pain - an amazing combo when taken together!) and either eat bran cereal or take a colace (stool softener) every day until you are regular. Constipation is simply the worst!

Now, at 5 weeks postpartum, my skin is still a bit tingly, and it is getting itchy as the nerves regenerate. I hope it gets easier for you soon! Congrats on your babies!

Sorry to hear about the troubles  I kept up on the stool softeners regularly (2 a day), drank tons of H20, and tried to eat a lot of fresh foods. I never had a problem with the constipation fortunately. I don't know if it was coincidental or due to the measures I was taking but I was also slow in my recovery. With my boys in the NICU for 11 days there was no rest for the weary. I was get up and go from the morning after the section (which was at 6pm the night before). I was breastfeeding and I was literally called back up to the NICU everytime I would go back to my room to eat or get some rest. This was my doing as the nurses were more than happy to feed them a bottle while I was gone. 6days later after I was discharged I would go into the hospital and sit there from 8am to 530pm when my DH would pick me up after work. I paid for this in the end. It also took me several months to "recover" I had incisional pain for about the first 2 1/2 months, and was dog tired! I took pain meds when I needed them though and that helped a little. Don't worry, you will eventually feel better, it just takes some time and rest.

Well, at least I know Im not the only one. Wow, they never told me about the aftermath! <_<

A couple of you asked, I stopped the pain meds within a week. Mostly cause Im the only one here with so many little ones I wanted to know I was mentally clear for all of them. The prune juice helps a lot in that "area" so Ill stick with that for now.

Sorry to here so many are struggling with this, but like I said, I feel better knowing Im in the "normal" group I guess. I was just starting to worry if it was not healing right.

I have to much to do with! I don't have time for this! :p

I hope we all feel better soon!

Wow, I'm so scared of the C-section. Anyone have a *good* experience where they recovered quickly?? Or is that just wishful thinking???

Hi, I was scared of "IT" too. the actually c/s was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The staff was great and it was over before I knew it. The healing is taking some time but it's still not the end of the world. Please don't let my whining scare you too much.

Try Colace (stool softener) - I used it after my C/S.

As for the recovery - mine took about 3 to 4 months.

Good luck - it gets better!

While I did have some trouble emotionally accepting having the c-section, I recovered physically pretty quickly. The initial couple weeks right after the surgery was very uncomfortable but I took it easy and had great help from my DH and Mom. Getting up from a sitting or laying position was pretty painful but the more I did it the easier things got. I was careful not to push it and truly did not lift anything except the babies for the first month. The gas and BM's at first were pretty painful as well but that passed within the first week. Since I didn't go out much, I also wore a ton of PJ pants or yoga pants that were soft and stretchy around the incision site.

I'd say I was pretty much 100% after 4 weeks. The incision site still feels kind of numb today but I wouldn't say it's painful.

Overall, the c-section turned out to cause me more emotional turmoil than physical. Everyone is different. Just do your best to work through whatever post pregnancy throws at you and you'll persevere.

I can only share my c/s experience with my son
and It wasn't BAD but the only couple thing what I can mention. my insition hurt even now ( 3 years later) if the weather change. and I am pregnant with twins now and I still feel numbness in that area. about right after DS was born I know that I was off pain killer meds 6 days after c/s as soon as I get home and I know that I was going up and down stair without any problem. but again I think i have so much adrenaline in my blood after the baby arrived that I just didn't pay attention to that.
