I took Parker to the eye doctor today. A woman in the waiting room said "let me guess he's about 6 months". I said no....he's 12 months. Then she had the nerve to tell that I should feed him more because he's too little. I was so angry....after listening to stories of all the sizes of her grandkids...I finally said "Its none of your business how I feed my kids" and walked off. The nerve of some people.

I get that all the time, only it's from family. They are always commenting on how little C&C are and make reference to the fact I'm breastfeeding. It drives me nuts!

Good for you telling her to butt out!

UHG! some people! Why would you think you could say something like that to a stranger? She doesn't know your circumstances at all! She must have felt insecure, I bet your son was behaving much better than her grandkids so she had to come up with something to make herself feel better.

The best stratedy is to develop a thick skin and just let rude comments go by un-noticed. Why spread the rudeness in the world with a response?

But if you want to respond you can say that research has shown that children with slower but steady growth are less likely to develope diabetes and other illnesses than children with rapid growth.

Maggie, that's too bad that she went on and on and on and on!! Good grief. Don't people get that all kids are different!?!

I was at the mall one day in an elevator with an 18 y/o with her 4 month old son. She asked me how old my twins were and I said 11 months. She said "oh my, they are so tiny, my son is only 4 months old and so much bigger then them" Granted he was bigger but he was also HUGE! I have never seen a 4 month old that big. I wanted to tell her that she should lay off the "junk food" before he got so big he would never walk!

I know my kids are on the smaller side (a little over 18 lbs @12 months) but why do so many people feel the need to comment about it?

Sorry you met one of the annoying people. I know how that can put a sour note in your day.

I've gotten some of the worst comments in the waiting room at the doctor's office. I'm not sure why that's such fertile ground for rudeness. Mine have never had a roll or double chin to worry about cleaning under but they have followed their growth curve so they're gaining at an appropriate rate. I see no reason to change a thing. I know there are a lot of people still following the old philosophy of the fatter the better -- try to ignore them.
