let me start off by saying i am a little sensitive to these comments...

i was on the phone with my boss and another co-worker this morning, i am doing some work from home - so my boss makes a comment like "well i'm expecting that you can have these babies any day now" - granted she is a dr. and dr.s tend to be negative at times....

i got so irritated!!!! i am 26 weeks! i am hoping to bake them a while longer - my ob took me out of work for me to relax - i'm hoping that being home resting will help me bake these dudes for as long as possible!!!

anyways - thanks for listening to me rant...

Oh yeah I just don't get when people make those comments. When I tell people I had mine between 28-29 weeks, people are like "oh well thats pretty normal for twins right" :shok: yeah...normal...people just don't get it!!

    Good luck!

perhaps he has no clue how far along you are?? or how long a healthy pg even with twins should really last??.... I think people in this day tend to trust medicine a little too much...we take it for granted that kids born after 26 weeks or so will be just fine.... and amazingly so many of them survive and do okay... but it's certainly not something to take for granted.

I used to get comments like that all the time!! Now that the girls are here people always ask if they were full term -
when I say yeah 38 weeks 4 days - they are always so shocked - they act like I was pregnant for 2 years or something!

CONGRATULATIONS! Twins are SO WONDERFUL!!! :) :)

I just had this conversation with my MIL the other day. She was telling me that back years ago they never counted in weeks - only months. I am so used to doing all my counting in weeks that when she asks me how many months, I am not even sure! So unless a person does the "mental math" fast, they may not even realize that something like 26 weeks is only 6 months along.

There are so many annoying comments no matter what stage of life you are in. I can't get over how many people ask me if I am planning to breast feed. UM... What business is it of the lady in the supermarket? Hello??? Or when we were trying for babies unsuccessfully it was, "Don't wait too long to have kids." or "Just relax. Then it will happen!" HA!!!! Another board I'm on calls them the IM - Insensitive Masses...

I agree with Beth, annoying comments will come no matter what. Sometimes you have to wonder if it's one of those "did you think about that before you asked it" moments. Good luck because they get more frequent as you go along! :D

I was just talking to someone about that the other day. People would always say "those babies could come anytime now hopefully you can make it one more week." I was like 27 weeks at the time. I wanted to say "ya if I want to deal with them being in the NICU for 2 months idiot." People think that because they heard that a baby can survive at 24 weeks that it's ok to have them then. Just wait until you get closer and you are huge, then the comments really start flying in. I can't make it 10 feet without someone saying something. Sorry I'm grouchy today, I don't know where that rant came from.

People are dumb about pregnancy! Coming from your boss, I read that as "Hurry and have those babies so that you can get back to work."!

    Hang in there!
