Angel's Thumb Surgery went VERY well..

Angelo's reconstructive left thumb surgery went VERY well today. He was in a GREAT mood considering he wasn't able to eat since 8pm last night! The procedure lasted about 1.5 hours and surprisingly we got discharged before noon! The cast is quite large and goes up just below his shoulder. There's a pin holding his thumb in place underneath the cast from the tip the end of the thumb. The surgeon was great. I had brought little twin stuffed bears that are kissing each other and the doctor took one of the bears and put a cast on him too! I thought that was so thoughtful and cute! Estimated time for the cast to stay on is roughly 4 weeks. They gave him prescription Tylenol with codeine for pain as needed. Heart surgery, thumb surgery.. geesh, I think he's had enough!!!

I wasn't able to take any of the cast because he had just woken up from the anesthesia & I didn't want to harass him with the Mommy-Cam :laughing:

SOO happy to hear everything went well. 4 weeks seems like a long time but he sounds like he is a trooper and will make it through just fine!
