My daughter will be having her anatomy scan on the babies Thursday at 3:00. She will be 19 weeks. How long does it take to have this done on both babies? Also please keep them in your prayers. She's had some trouble in the first trimester with spotting and bladder infections also. The past month has been problem free. She had a miscarriage last summer so we are excited but also nervous. We appreciate all the prayers we can get. Hopefully when she finishes school this May she will be on here more. This forum has been very helpful to me even though I'm just the grandmother ( nena) LOL!

Mine took an hour and 45 minutes. About 1 1/2 hours with the u/s tech and then 15 minutes for the doctor to redo some measurements and look things over. Good luck, I hope things turn out well for your daughter.

I think mine took close to 2 hours! A lot of it depends on the position of the babies, the quality of the technology and the experience of the technician.

Mine took two hours too. They had to get measurements for everything though and Baby A was not cooperating much. I hope they let her take breaks...being on my back that long killed it and I began to feel lightheaded/dizzy. It's not good to be on your back for that long w/out breaks. It cuts off oxygen or blood supply or something like that.

Congratulations on being a grandma of twins! :p

mine was just over an hour as wel but they always booked me a 2 hour slot. I agree that it depends on the babies cooperation, and the tech. Congrats!

ETA: alot of them will make you a video or DVD too. You might call and ask if they do that and if you need to bring your own DVD. :)

Ours was about 2 1/2 hours! The tech had to switch boys a number of times because she said that the ultrasound seemed to be stimulating them and they wouldn't sit still for anything. At one point, she quit trying and we just watched the show for a while because they were kicking the heck out of each other. It was an accurate portrayal of our future...

Mine was done in less than an hour ... very cooperative babies and highly skilled technician.

My anatomy scan was done at 19wks and it took a little over 2 hours for me as well and not to mention the doctor coming in to talk to us afterwards. Neither one of my girls cooperated that day.

Mine took about 2.5 hours. Babies were moving around too much and not cooperating with the tech. I was going to have to come back but just as we were giving up hope for the spine, baby B finally turned around!

Just wanted to update everyone on my daughters anatomy scan at 19 weeks. Everything went well and babies are doing great. She was not sent to the Peri. Her regular OB-GYN done the scan. They were in and out in an hour. This practice has lots of experience with Twins. They are both girls and are 8 oz. each. Thank you all for the information and support.
