have been looking for guidelines on quantity of solids to be giving your baby. i know everyone says let you baby be your guide (blah blah blah) but i'm just wondering what is average out there. You know, the way they have guidelines for milk... I only feed my boys solids once a day but i give Ari 4 tblspn of cereal, 1/2 jar veggie, 1/2 jar fruit. Saro gets the same but he gets 6 tblpsn of cereal cause he seems to want more.

The box of cereal indicates 7 tblspn as one serving size but i haven't heard a lot of people give that much to their babies so that's why i'm doing a little poll... Thanks for your help! (btw my boys are almost 7 months and have been having solids since they were 5.5 months old.)

My grandsons are 11 days older than your boys. As for cereal I mix about 3 tablespoons of cereal with one jar of fruit and one jar of veggies each morning. I then split it between the two. They both take a 7 oz. bottle when they get up around 6:30 and I feed them the solids between 7:30 and 8. I give them solids three times each day along with their formula. They have solids at breakfast, lunch and dinnertime. Their midday solids consist of a meat and a veggie - and I also alternate green veggies one day and yellow the next - I split the two between them - so I guess it averages about one jar each per meal for a total of 3 jars each for the day with the cereal thrown in as well. At the evening meal they get a fruit and veggie mixed with cereal. At three months old they were taking 8 oz of formula and wanting more so the pedi said to try them on solids. They took to it well and we just followed the natural progression of additions of solids- just a little earlier than most.

We did about 7tablespoons of cereal (they shared) and a jar of fruit (they shared) as well. Some days my DS ate more of the mixture and other days my DD ate more. We just went with one bowl and mouth to mouth until either they were full or the bowl was empty whichever came first.

Hello! As per Gerber, here are the guidelines for a 7 month old, I just called and asked today.
This is all per day per child:
    Formula 24 - 32 oz.
    4 - 6 tbsp. cereal
1 container each of fruit and veggie

    Hope this helps!

I make my food, but I think 3 of my cubes are equal to about 1 jar. At 7 months, we were going back and forth between 2-3 meals, I couldn't decide. Each meal was 3 cubes, 1/4 cup of cereal, and then mixed with milk/formula to get disired consistency. They get mostly pumped breastmilk, 4 bottles a day, and the probably drink approx. 22 ounces, if that, each.

I've been wondering the same thing. My girls will be 7 months on the 17th. Each one currently has 5 ozs of formula plus cereal for breakfast (I mix it in 1 bowl and split it between the two), 5 ozs of formula plus 1/2 container of veg and 1/2 container of fruit for lunch, repeat for dinner and only a bottle (6-7 ozs.) of formula at bedtime. I don't measure out the cereal.

During the 7 month time frame I gave
Bfast- 8 am - 7-8 oz fromula with 2 -3 tblspns of oatmeal and stage 1 siae gerber fruit-- 2 oz, I think
Lunch- 12N -6-8 oz bottle depending on whether we are home or out and how much they finish
    4 pm 6-8 oz bottle

( at about 7 3/4 months I began to add a fruit with 4 pm bottle or slightly after )
Dinner 8 pm try to get in a whole 7-8 oz bottle along with ceareal and veggie.

Now we are adding a meat with dinner or trying to do it along with the after noon bottle.

It has not been easy to get regular about it all. And sometimes it stinks that they are not finishing things and making me question what I am doing.
