amnio dilema

hi there,i've got a big dilema taking an amnio cause me and my husband coudn't have any kids and now i'm pregnant with twins after IVF treatment.Until now all my tests are ok but the only problem is my age 37 to 38.Is there any of you who have or had the same problem?I really need the advice,thank you. P.S. sorry for my english i'm from greece,thank you again

 

Are you wanting advice on whether you should have the amnio or not?
I was 28 when my twins were born, but it was a very high risk preg. They wanted me to do an amnio and I told them no....I knew without a doubt that I would not terminate the pregnancy....I was going to keep the babies whether or not they had something "wrong" with them. I did not want to take the risk of having a miscarriage....
Long story short..2 perfect healthy babies.....

Side note: I have a friend who had an amnio b/c they told her something was wrong with the baby....they day the test results came back she miscarried (due to the amnio). The test results showed that there was nothing wrong with the baby at all. sad story.

I was around the same age with my twins and I had some questionable numbers. Even though I may not have terminated a pregnancy, I was unprepared to learn of a major disability in the delivery room. If something were wrong with either, I wanted to know ahead of time.

I did it w/o incident and it wasn't that painful. I wish you luck with your decision! I understand it's difficult!! NO MATTER WHAT you decide :hug99:

 

i'm not sure about the age factor but I just had an amnio done after we found that the baby had a heart defect. The doctors told me that tehre was only a .5% of miscarriage or preterm labor from the amnio. I had it done and it wasnt bad at all. I was terrified but I made it though and it really didnt hurt. After wards, they monitored me for about 2 hours just to be safe. Good luck in whatever you decide

I was not going to take any chances. I was 36 when the twins were born. I did not have it done.
