Need honest opinions quick. I am 29wks3d and we are trying to get this nursery done. I didn't even think about this and want it painted. I will not be painting but is it out of the question to even paint at all this close to the births? I am so annoyed with myself for not thinking of this sooner. I have researched non-VOC paint and milk paint. Does anyone have any input on the safety of these paints? There is not a lot of research out there that I could find and I don't want to mess this up. Should I just suck it up that I didn't plan enough in advance and not paint or can I use one of these options? Any input or opinions appreciated. My DH thinks one of these options is fine and I am really clueless. Thanks much!

I think you are okay with painting now. :pardon: Hopefully you have many more weeks to go and you can paint the room{s} and leave the windows open in there. :good: I think if you were to leave them open for a day or two the smell will definately get out by the time the babies get here. Don't be too hard on yourself about it, there is still plenty of time.

I agree plenty of time, it only takes a few days for the smell to get out of the room :) And any paint that isn't lead based is fine :)

Oh sure, you have plenty of time to paint. If you're at all worried and the babies happen to come early, they can sleep in your room for a few days while you air out the newly-painted room.

    I painted at 33 weeks....
just keep it well ventialted and DON'T use the oil based paints... stick with the latex and all should be well :)

If you are really concerned, you could use the Mythic Paint. Apparently, it's 0% toxic. :) I was looking at buying it for our nursery---still unpainted! I only needed 2 gallons, and it was a little over $100.00!! So, it's very expensive. My sister-in-law offered to paint our nursery while I was at work & we'll let it air out. It was much cheaper that way. ;)

My father and husband painted our nursery over Christmas...I was 24 weeks then. We used Behr paint from Home Depot. I wasn't bothered by the smell and they kept the door closed (mostly to kep the dogs out of the room, our dog manged to dye his ear white) and the windows open in that room with the new ceiling fan going. I would stick my head in and check on progress. I think as long as your aren't directly involved in the painting you should be fine.
