    Hi everyone,
I live in Maryland and am expecting mono/di boys in October. My allergies are really driving me crazy!! My allergist told me that pregnancy causes 1/3 of women to have the same allergy symptoms, 1/3 to have less and 1/3 to have more. I think I'm in that more category... :(

Oh my goodness! I'm in Maryland and I'm having mono/di boys in October! I'm going to send you a PM if you don't mind. Anyway, my allergies were really really bad from about mid April until about a week ago. I'm mostly allergic to tree pollen and it looks like all the trees around my house have bloomed, so luckily I am feeling better. It reallu sucks and there is not much you can do. :(

I'm having a really hard time with allergies this year. It's the worst my allergies have affected me in years.

I'm sorry your allergies are so bad! :hug99: It really is the pits! Mine are worse since getting pregnant too, but I've never been satisfied with any meds over the counter or prescribed so I've just suffered through it. I have thought about asking my dr if there's anything safe for me to take, but never have 'cause nothing has ever really helped me anyway. Always seems the cure is worse then the allergies! The only thing I've found that really cuts through them, at least for a little bit, is to just take a shower when they start to get bad, especially if I've been outside at all after the grass has been cut, or have been around cats. :hug99:

Mine are the worst they have ever been. I think it's the pregnancy.

Mine feel the worst they ever have been, and my asthma has really been acting up, too. I usually only have to take my controller for a few weeks every spring, right now, it's going on a month...

    Mine are horrible, too...

Per my doc - I take benadryl at night and claritin in the morning. It helps - but I am still pretty bad off considering how I've kept a steady stream of the stuff in my system!

I agree - a shower works great when I'm feeling really bad from allergies. It gets all the allergens off me, at least for awhile. I also find it helps to cleanse my sinuses out with a sinus cleansing kit (I use Nielmed but many friends use a Neti pot).

Mine have been horrible too. It also caused asthma. So I am on things for the asthma plus then I take allergy medicine. I also use the sinus rinse and that helps a lot. I use the Neilmeds one, but I also heard a lot of people use the nettipot. I hope that it goes away after the babies are born!

I'm in Maryland too, I never had allergy problems until I became pregnant and you're both right, they have been horrible lately! I'm constantly blowing my nose and sneezing and having nose bleeds! AAAHHH! Hopefully it will get better soon!

Another Marylander here! But my boys are coming by May 29th (whether on their own or with a little coaxing). :)

Anyway, I have been terribly stuffy my entire pregnancy but my usual "allergies" (runny nose, itchy eyes, sore throat) only started acting up the past month. I don't take any medication for them because the mild ones (Claritin, Sudafed) don't do anything for me, and the stronger ones (Benadryl) make me too sleepy. So I've been suffering. I did end up closing my bedroom windows and running a room AC at night so the pollen hopefully can't get in where I sleep at least.

I've also felt that my asthma is worse, but my asthma medications don't seem to ease the symptoms any. It's probably just these big boys taking up too much room.

I've been using a Neilmed sinus rinse the entire pregnancy to get congestion relief and have been pretty satisfied with that. Plain saline sprays weren't doing a thing.

Mine have been really bad also and I have been taking zyrtec and that helps alot except for the sinus headaches.
