I have already given the girls PB & they love it. Am I the only one? They have had no other food allergies and DH & I don't either. Just wondering?

I gave PB here too at a year old. DH and I also have no allergies to food and the girls eat everything now including shell fish.

We gave it sometime around 12 months. We have no food allergies and the doctor said it was fine. However, Ainsley doesn't like it, so I don't feed it that often.

Nope, you're not alone! :winking0009: We started PB just after one year too...no hx of allergies. Now, we recently tried PB and jelly and one of the boys wouldn't eat it! go figure!

I haven't yet, I've been tempted though. I'm going to grill the pedi about it once again at their 18 month visit.

I gave it to mine a little bit ago (not sure exactly). They didn't like it. It would make life easier if they would eat PBJ sandwiches.

Brandon actually had peanut exposure before a year old. I didn't realize that Chick Fila used peanut oil and we ate there several times before my lil sis mentioned it to me.

I think my boys had it for the first time around 13 or 14 months. We were at the zoo with friends, and my friend gave them some of her kids' crackers with peanut butter on them. It went fine and they love it.

I did it right after a year with no problems, but I think I might be one of the lucky ones!

We started at 18 months. We have no history of food allergies in the family and the boys seem to have lucked out because they haven't reacted to anything either.

We've done pb with all 3 of our kids at about a year. No history of allergies. Although, our current ped made it clear that it was not so much the allergies, but the choking that she was concerned about. She's seen a child that was severely brain damaged due to a choking incident involving pb. She said "it's just not worth risking their life for peanut butter!" Of course, she is right, but I think you can take necessary precautions (just like we cut their food up really small) to hopefully eliminate the choking risk as much as possible.

I just make sure to spread it REALLY thin, and we don't give it very often. I read someone on this board uses applesauce to thin it out...good idea, I just haven't tried it yet.

we started a little before a year, no history of peanut allergies and with the OK from the pedi.....his main concern was a choking hazard, and suggested we mixed peanut butter w/ applesauce.....the boys love this "whipped" peanut butter!

Right at a year we started, with it realllllly thin so as not to make it too tough to eat.

Thank God for PB&J, it is really a staple around here!

Nope, I gave my guys PB at 11 months and they love it. We have a PB sandwich usually once a week. I used my Pampered Chef sandwich cutter to make it nice and tidy.

I gave Harlie a bite of my toast with PB on it a few months ago and her whole face turned red and got blotchy, I barely gave her ANY, a teeny tiny bite, so needless to say I will not be giving them anymore anytime soon! But I have some food allergies too, so I wasn't suprised!

We gave them PB at about 11 mos, older DD was 'sharing' hers with them so I figured it was better to get it out of the way. We have no allergies either though.
