I've read about all these trigger points that massage therapists shouldnt touch while doing prenatal massage but what about just a regular at home massage from the DH is it ok? My back has hurt so bad with this pregnancy I'm even walking funny so my DH is always offering to rub it but then I end up more tense worrying he's gonna hit some spot....ugh. Am I just peranoid? I really would like a nice massage=)

I always let DH rub my back. I figured he wasn't putting as much pressure as a regular massage therapist would so I let him do it since it felt so good.

Dh rubs my back often too, most of the trigger points I believe are in your feet that can cause labor, I'm sure there's more elsewhere but those are the ones I've heard most about :)

Yeah, don't let him rub your ankles or feet (until you're 38 weeks and your OB says go for it, LOL). Other than that, you should be good.

I was always paranoid too! I don't think he would be placing enough pressure to trigger them though. But if you could, I def recommend getting a prenantal massage. Before I went on bedrest I got one every other week and it help tremendously!

ditto PPs - the trigger points are in your feet & ankles. i asked my massage therapist about it when i was pregnant. if he's just giving your shoulders & back a rub, you're fine. enjoy! :)

I got massages often while i was pregnant. I'm not sure about the trigger points, but my massage therapist said not to massage the lower back to much, but she also said that unless your body is ready to go into labor its not likely that a massage will make you go into labor. When i was about 38 weeks she actually tried to massage all my "trigger points" and it didn't work because my body just wasn't ready yet. Also you can have him massage your hips...they actually are the source of a lot of back and leg pain.

YES, YES, YES!!! Let him massage you. I even asked DH to rub my butt :D I just got so sore from laying all day. My OB told me, nothing below the knees. So, although I would have killed for a pedicure and foot massage, I stayed away.
