I don't know why, but feel like attempting a craft with my 14 month olds! Am I crazy? The only thing I can think of is finger painting, but I dont' know what to use that is safe. I'm sure they'll end up eating it. Is it safe, a good (but crazy) idea, bad idea, have any better suggestions???

How about giving them paintbrushes with water and letting them paint the sidewalk/driveway? It could be fun and less messy than fingerpaints?

We used pudding for our 1 1/2 yr olds and they LOVED it!! We took vanilla pudding and put food coloring in it, covered the kitchen table with white paper (and the floor with newspaper) and let them at it. They had a blast 'coloring' first, then once they realized how yummy it was, it was back and forth between smearing the paper and licking their fingers. Lots of fun and very cute! :) Our 3 1/2 yr old loved it too.

We used Tempera (sp?) paints to make a Father's Day painting for my husband. I don't know how safe it was, but they ate it and they're still alive and kicking. It was a mess but tons of fun and I think it just might have cured Caleb of his sensory issues with his hands and feet :D .

Have you ever heard of Kid Concoctions? They have a GREAT book out that has lots of recipes and crafty ideas! There are a few finger painting recipes in there. I couldn't tell you the exact measures, but we did a blend of cornstarch with baby soap, so safe but yucky to eat. I let them go at in the tub! It was fun and I have some great pictures to show for it! :)

Yes, we carried them right over to the sink and sprayed them. It came right off...very little scrubbing required.
