Well, I had my Dr. appt. today and it sounds like unless mother nature beats us to it then we will be having a planned c-section within the next two weeks. The dilemma I am having is that that falls right next to or on my 6 year olds birthday. I would really like to avoid this. So is ok for me to ask to do it next weeks if we are going to plan it anyway? I know this is just a minor technicality in life to share. birthdays but I would like to give them their own days. FYI I will be 37 weeks on Monday. I just don't know if I am thinking about this too much and letting my hormones get the best of me or if it is ok for me to request this?

While I don't agree w/ scheduling a section JUST for convenience sake (vs. letting nature take it's course), I think this is different. You're going to be scheduled anyway, so why not as long as the doctor doesn't see any medical reasons to do otherwise. I'd probably be thinking the same way.

I say go for it...ask! And good luck with everything! Hope it's a smooth delivery!!

I had a scheduled c-section & my Dr. gave me a few days to 'choose from' ;)
This was especially nice because my girls birthday falls in between Christmas & New Years :(
So to keep me out of the hospital over Christmas and over New Years I had them on the 28th & was home by the 31st :good:

I would definitely ask & I am sure that they won't have a problem working with your schedule!
    Good luck!

It never hurts to ask. :) I think I would ask if I could schedule a different date.

I know exactly how you feel. My dd#1 bday is the 15th march. dd#2 is the 12th of March. The drs are saying I will deliver before 32 weeks. 32 weeks is the 17th of March. Whilst one part of me wants them to last as long as possible I could end up with 4 b'days within one week of each other! My hubby's b'day is, of course, also in March.
When I was being booked in for a c-section with dd#2 (which didn't eventuate as she flippped from breech) the dr gave me a few days to choose from . Good luck, hope yours is flexible too!

I understand completely. DD2's b-day is 1/31, DH's is 2/11. and DD1's os 2/12. When we decided to have a third, I told DH that we could not have anymore Feb babies. It is so hard to make sure that everyone gets their fair amount of attention.

With these guys, I just asked my OB if we could work around my oldest daughter's pre-K graduation.

I say go for it. :good: You are scheduling one anyway, so why not? Worst thing your doctor can say is no, but at least you tried. I think I'd ask too.

I would ask too, it can't hurt! :D I'm having my elective at 37 wks 5 days, because that falls on a tuesday and my ob does elective's on tuesday/wednesdays, and he wanted me to hit 37 wks before doing an elective c/s.

I would totally ask! I wouldn't want to have my birthday around a major holiday or let alone around my siblings, if it could be avoided. I totally agree with you and you are not being too picky!

Congrats on making it so far!

if you are scheduling anyway, why wouldn't you pick a date that works best for you? GO for it!!

Thanks ladies for your support. It is just so odd for me to have a say when they arrive since I didn't with my others. I will ask and see what happens. I guess worst case scenario Dr. says no and then we will have to live with it. Maybe they will just decide to come on their own this weekend and then I won't have to think about any further!
