My little guy wont eat or sleep today. I put him down for nap time and he is up there making little noises (not happy, not sad) and rolling around. His brother was sound asleep in the papa san and I haven't heard a peep from him.

Is it ok to leave him alone if he's not asleep? I feel like I need to go up and either try to make him sleep or play with him, but I'm zapped today and figure we're both happier this way.

    What would you do?

You are not a bad mom!! Nothing wrong with letting him hang out up there and maybe he will just doze off on his own. And if he starts escalately then deal with that if it happens.

You are definately not a bad mom! You are doing a fantastic job. As long as he isn't wailing at the top of his lungs, I would let him be. Like pp said, he is exploring his surroundings...plus, mommy needs a few minutes to recoop!

take the monitor with you and enjoy! I let mine play if they will before they fall asleep - as long as he can't hurt himself you're good!

    No you are not!!

Enjoy the time! He may need some time to get himself to sleep. He needs to learn to soothe himself to sleep anyways!

Yes, I think it is fine for them to have some downtime to. Definitely not a bad mommy!

It's great that he will just lay there and entertain himself for a bit! You are not a bad mommy! :hug99:

My DS does the same thing, but he'll do it in the MIDDLE of the night! He'll talk to himself for a good 20 minutes, and then he falls to sleep. I just figure that's how he self soothes. I do find that I have to turn the monitor WAY down though or else I can't fall back to sleep!

Sounds like he's happy, so NO, you are NOT a bad mother!

Downtime is perfectly ok, and you are a good mom! :) I always figure that if they want me there, they will let me know. And unfortunately you can't make them sleep - all you can do is tend to their needs and try to soothe them, and then they either sleep or they don't.

So take a break. You deserve it!
