alternatives to plastic cups?

In light of all the press recently about chemicals leaching out of plastics and into your food/drinks, I checked the cups and plates my boys are eating off of, and of course they are #7 plastic. #7 has the potential to leak bisphenol A into your food, apparently.

Anyway, I'm interested in finding new dinnerwear for them that's not made out of this plastic, and I'm having the hardest time! I found some sippy cups online made out of stainless steel, but the boys are beyond sippies now and are comfortable using regular cups. Does anyone have suggestions for safe alternatives?

Ikea sells safe plastic cups and plates. They don't contain PVC, phalates, or BPA. This wouldn't help if you're trying to avoid all plastic, but if you just want to avoid the "bad" kind, you can look there. Or try www.thesoftlanding.com, they sell safe feeding supplies.

I got some cups & bowls from Ikea, too. They're not available online, though & I wish they were!! We just happened to be at the store on a trip.

There's a Camelbak cup that's not quite a sippy.....I mean, I'd use it! This websitehas a lot of recommendations, but I think they're still mostly sippy cups. I was looking for a straw style & have had a hard time finding much besides the Camelbak & the Foogo, which is currently backordered. My mom told me I should just use some thick glass cups, but my kids aren't quite old enough for glass! Her suggestion was to put one of those cool cups on a glass to help keep it from breaking, should it get dropped.....might work for older kids.

I jsut got two of the foogo funtainers...sippy straw cups. They are adorable and my girls LOVE them. Every once in a while you will get lucky and find some at Target...otherwise they are backordered everywhere.
