i have baby quilts laid out on the livingroom floor for the boys to lay together on during the day. This is also where they nap. Today i was having Kenneth do tummy time while Ian slept next to him, and figured i could get some laundry in and have a moment to use the bathroom. i was gone about 5 minutes or so, and when i came back in the room, Kenneth was not where i left him. He was off the blankets!!! Not to the side like maybe he had rolled, but STRAIGHT AHEAD!!! Which means he has gotten strong enough to scoot himself forward and be mobile. AT 26 DAYS OLD!!! i swear i had to stand there and look at him and wrap my brain around the fact that he had moved forwards 3-4 feet without any assistance, but there is no other explanation as we are the only ones home right now. 26 days old and already scooting?!!??? Isnt this waaayyy too early to be doing this? He hasnt even learned to roll over yet!

Kenneth and Ian are 26 days old

not at all! Danika used to scoot all over her incubator in the NICU if they didn't put a snuggli around her because she liked to be up against something. it's amazing where a little wiggling will get you. :)

Wow, that's great!!! Keep putting them down on the floor. He'll probably roll soon or at least start turning to the side. I had had a roller at 8 weeks, and I remember some forward scooting like that around 6-7 weeks, which is pretty early. So you never know what you might be in for..yours might be rolling at a month and a half. :)

Ditto! Jack used to "mountain climb" up his bassinet in the NICU:) and would also scoot forward when on the floor! He just started log rolling yesterday:) Keep an eye on them, it seems like since they are little they can't go anywhere but they really do go far wiggling!

They can definitely move/scoot on their tummies! Be careful to only lay them on the floor or someplace safe like a crib to avoid falls!

Yep, mine would "worm" their way around from a very early age. We quit swaddling when they were maybe 10 days old because they seemed to sleep better if they weren't constricted at all and they were all over the crib. I recall being very surprised because I had no idea newborns could move like that. Then again, everyone I knew swaddled pretty heavily so maybe that has something to do with it?

Same here. I recall a nurse at my boys' 2-month appointment putting one on his tummy and exclaiming, "he's scooting already!" I remember telling her he'd been doing it for weeks and I actually didn't realize that was early. He rolled tummy-to-back at 7 weeks, back-to-tummy at 11 weeks, crawling at about 6 months...

So, if yours is anything like some of ours, watch it! LOL
