A couple of months ago, I asked you ladies if you thought my boys were fraternal or ID. Most of you said ID. It really blew me away. Now even strangers are recognizing them as fraternal. What do you think now??

Background: Same blood type/color hair/color eyes and had fused placentas

    rocking the chair
    at the pool

Meg- they are STILL identical LOL.

The one w/ the skinnier face was head down right and baby A I bet.. And the one w/ the fuller face was moving all the time but head up right (baby b??) Just a wild guess..

    They are ID.

 Really??? Darn, I really am going to have to do the test, aren't I? The one w/ the skinnier face (Jake) was baby a, but was jammed in my ribcage for a good month. Baby B (Ryan) was head down, but had the whole place to himself thanks to Jake.

I think totally ID as well! Aside from their difference in weight and face shape ALL their features are identical. Get the test!!

    You are good!

Meg - yes they still are ID they just have a bit of a different head shape ( just like my ID's) that's why people can tell them apart.

get them tested but yes they are ID!

They are looking more and more alike as they age.

I think they look fraternal in the rocking chair but the one in the tub has me guessing. :pardon:

wait... how did you figure this? my 'active in the womb" one has a fuller face, and my "baby A head down" has a skinnier face... explain!

and meg, they look ID because they have the same facial features to me, but yeah, their head/face shapes are different (like mine)

    and they are so cute!

and that baby in teh background of the 2nd picture is cracking me up!

    I say ID as well.

Why is it that baby A would be smaller face and skinnier? My baby A was jammed head down, has less hair and has a skinner face while my baby B had more room, fuller face and fuller hair. I just thought that was how they were I didn't realize other twins are the same way!

Yep, you are going to have to test...unless you just want to take our word that they are ID.
Their face shapes are different but their features are identical.

My baby A has a skinnier face and baby B has a rounder face...although my baby A was breech...

Same eyes, same nose, same mouth.
One is clearly heavier. That doesn't make them faternal!

As for A and B if you had a c-section they may have flipped that on you. My pregnancy A became "twin 2" at birth she was head down in the birth cannal, so they had to take twin B out first. Oh and my twin 2 (pregnancy A) was bigger for the first six month, then the other one grew faster and had the fuller face from 7 months on.

I figured this cuz Baby A is USUALLY head down--- to aid in delivery so because of this, being down in pelvis, head is skinnier!!!!

Baby B is the lucky dogg and gets to do whatever!! So Baby B is breech and all over w/ tons of "head room" so baby B has a fuller face and rounder head!!

Crazy huh? But usually the case :)

Hi Meg! I still think Frat - like I voted last time. My ID twins have a 4 pound size difference, but they still look the same! I think yours have different enough features that they could be frat. Of course, I could eat my words and they could be ID. No matter what, they look like brothers! Like I said before, my ID twins looks JUST like their older brother!

I think you should get the test and put yourself out of your misery with the wondering! :)

Ryan was baby a during the u/s since he was in my pelvic area, but he had IUGR. There was some confusion in the delivery room as we told them baby a was Ryan and then they said that baby b had IUGR. That's how I know...if that makes any sense. I was at risk for TTTS (or so they thought since they could only see one placenta) so I was monitored weekly and knew who was who the entire time.

I've always thought Jake had a skinnier face and oblong head b/c he was squished. He was transverse during the entire pregnancy.

    This is all so interesting!

I promise to do the test in September. DH made a deal with me that if their eyes were still the same color on their first bday, we could test. So far, so good. Their eyes are still blue and DH has hazel while I have brown. This is what keeps me thinking they are ID, but there are so many sets of twins in my family that I think it's fraternal. Thanks for all your opinions! Look for an answer in the 1-4 forum early October!

P.S. Sorry I keep bringing this up and making you all wonder again too! You guys are the best!

that's so interesting. while both my babies were head down, my baby A (ivana) was squished in my side thru most of my pregnancy, and when i tried to push her out, she was stuck under my pubic bone. baby B, on the other hand, had the whole right side, middle and part of my left side to swim around, all the while squishing her poor sister. ivana has a skinnier face, a little less hair, and marina has a fuller face and a little more hair and is just a taaaad heavier. and she's SUPER active!

My vote is that they're just too darn cute to care! :D I'm having so much fun looking at their sweet faces! Sp many cute little dudes on the site, that I'm thinking we need a massive TwinStuff Jamboree when my girls get marryin' age! :p (And incidentally, I think they're ID. :D)

My dh and his id twin brother have the exact same features but different face shapes. I should post some pics of them growing up, I bet y'all could tell them apart. My bil is even a little taller but they are definitely id because they had ttts. Considering they are 40+ my dh is lucky to be alive.

    p.s. your boys are adorable!

I know. This is an OLD thread. I changed my mind since this one. We've done another one since this one on Mommymegs kids and I made my choice clear then. Haven't changed. When this thread was done, they were still little and I thought ID. Asked for another about 4 months ago (at least) and made my frat choice then..

This is what made me wonder about my boys. I have dark brown eyes (I'm half Asian) and DH has blue. Both boys have hazel/green eyes. Genetically for me to have two children with that seems a bit odd. Then, the main way people used to tell them apart was by head shape (L my baby A was presenting and had the thinner face), however, now that they are getting older, head shape is evening out between the two.

I will likely test after their second birthday to see if mine are ID or frat. In my post several months ago I had all but one say ID.
