I am almost to the FY! In 3 weeks my girls will be one, I can't believe it! I have a question about introducing milk in place of formula. I know that at the one year mark babies are supposed to stop formula and switch to milke, so should I start giving them a little bit of milk every day now in order to get them acclamated to the taste? And I just start replacing formula bottles with milk bottles in a few weeks?

No clue here, but we're quickly headed in he same direction, so I'm glad you asked the question. I'll be watching for answers too.

I started adding milk to the formula when mine were 11 months old. I started with half formula and half milk and gradually decreased the formula until I was all out of formula. Good luck!

I also started gradually by mixing half milk/ half formula for a couple of weeks before giving them straight milk. If they have no issues with dairy or weight gain, most doctors will give the okay to start milk a bit before they are 1.

We made the switch at 9.5-10 months, I started with 1/4 milk 3/4 formula, then to half and half, then to 3/4 milk 1/4 formula until I used the last of the formula up. It's just to introduce the taste to them since it has a much different taste than formula. :)

I've made the switch cold turkey with my first two kiddos - no problems. I intend to do the same with my twins.

I went cold turkey with my older DS, too. I will probably do the same with the twins, since my Pedi said absolutely no milk before 12 months. I asked about 11 or 11.5 mos and he said, "No", so I want to stop the formula as soon as I can. If they seem to have any issues with the milk than I'll buy more formula, but the transition was smooth with my older DS and other transitions have been fine with the twins, so I don't expect any problems.
