Anyone else have twins this old that aren't doing anything yet? They were born at 38 weeks so they weren't preemies. I'm thinking it might be partly because they're so big-dd is 16lbs and ds is 18lbs.

Mine will be 5 months in about a week and aren't really doing that yet. They are small though. 9 lbs and 13 lbs. They try to sit up but haven't quite got there. They've rolled over but more by accident I think. But every day they seem more and more like they are getting closer to that. They were 36 weekers so I'm thinking maybe that is making a difference.

My babies were born 1 day shy of 36 weeks and they still don't really "choose" to roll over. It just happens every now and then. An they still haven't sat unassisted for more than a few seconds. You have plenty of time!

Thanks! I guess I'm just anxious for them to DO something plus I have a 4 yr old ds that rolled at 3 mths, was waving bye-bye at 5 mths. I shouldn't compare but maybe older ds was just advanced?

My girls are 5 months and Claire rolled twice in one night...but that is it and Carlie hasn't at all. Babies don't usually sit up til around 6 months also. I think mine will do that before they roll over!

If having twins is teaching me anything (aside from the value of sleep), I am learning what individuals babies are! It is so hard not to compare and wonder but really they will do it in their own time. Annalise rolled really early (5 weeks-I swear!!) yet Evie rolled once before 4 months and then not again for some time, then Evie sat at 5 months and Annalise didn't do it until 6 months. See how different? Then you throw their brother in there and it just solidifies the idea that all babies grow and develop in their own time!! I wouldn't worry. I believe sitting w/ some assistance is a 6 month milestone and rolling is a 4 month, I think but again I don't believe milestones are set in stone!

My girls are 38-weekers also. I don't remember when they started rolling over, but they didn't start sitting up until about 7 months. About a week or two later, they were crawling.

DON'T WORRY! Mine were slow rollers ... i think somewhere around the 6 month appt my DS rolled for the first time ... my DD rolled around 4.5 months .. but for sitting up ... not even close at 5 months! My DS still falls sometimes when he is sitting up ... but when they first started sitting up good probably wasn't until around 7 months or so ... i know it's hard not to compare ... but try not to! BTW, my son was a fatty too ... hehe ... he was 21lbs at 6 months ... so the doc said he might have been slow rolling cause he was such a chub!

Don't worry! Mine are still not sitting up at 7 months -- they tripod for a few seconds and then fall over. DD actually bucks and throws herself backwards, LOL.

Although my DS started rolling early, DD still doesn't roll -- she can, as I've seen her do it a couple times, but she hates being on her belly, so I think she's smart not to roll over, heehee.

Ped is not worried in the least.

Yours still have plenty of time. They'll get it!

Same here! Took my guys forever to be able to sit up on their own, and my chubbier one took a LONG time to roll from back to belly! I really wouldn't worry.

Micky (the smaller one) is quite advanced. She sits, rolls, and gets up on all fours to rock. She has to know what is going on, all the time. Maddy still hasn't figured out how to roll from back to front and has no desire to even try. She is perfectly happy just laying there taking in the activities of my older kids.

I read long ago that developement isn't just about being physically ready. It has alot to do with personality as well. A more laid back baby usually developes slower. They just do not see the need for speed ;) They are quite content to lay there and just take things in rather then to go exploring. I would try not to worry unless their doc is worried.

Mine were also born at 38 weeks and while Lorien could roll over at about 4 months or so, Arwen had no interest until she was 8 months. She was perfectly content to just lay on her back or side or to sit if I put her that way. I think my girls were able to sit up on their own around 7-7.5 months. Don't worry...you will hear this a million times to the point that it is cliche but they will do everything at their own pace. Don't compare them to what others are doing and don't compare them to each other. They will get there, I promise.

In my mind, your babies aren't late at all. Around here James didn't roll until 6 months and Evan was over 7 months. Evan still can't roll from tummy to back! James sat up independently at 7.5 months and Evan was more like 8 months. They're happy, healthy babies. My doctor told me there is a huge range for these things, so there's no need to worry if your babies are on the "late" side. But honestly, yours aren't even late yet!

One of mine did not rollover until 6 months and neither of them sat unassisted until they were about 7-8 months.

My DS just started rolling this week. As you can see in my sig, he is a very big boy. He has it perfected now. He was sitting up about a week before he could roll both ways. DD sat at just over 5 months but just figured out how to roll tummy to back.

No worries all babies are different.

I was a Nanny for identical girls. At 9 months they sat, at 10 months they crawled and at 11 they walked. They are perfectly normal 3 year olds now. I saw them on Friday and they are tall and very athletic.

    :)
